Star Ocean Notes

Star Ocean Notes

Intro credits video shows nuclear Armageddon. We see launches from planes and subs and cities being nuked. The two leaders come together in the destroyed world and find peace a better idea.
We watch as a space program is created, presumably to find a new planet to go and squabble on since we have wrecked this one.

We can now start a new game and choose difficulty. I choose normal.

We see another cut scene with a voiceover we see much of what we already saw. Then told about the space recon force which is looking for new planets to live on.
We meet Edge who is ducking out of a boring ceremony hiding in the battle simulator. A girl called Reimi turns up who it seems has been chasing Edge for a long time, he is fairly rude to her. She goes off and we get to do some battle simulations.

We are shown how to move. View controls on the camera are reversed, I hate that, you had better be able to change that. The music is also of the irritating variety.
Attacking is done by pressing A repeatedly. There are chain combos.
We are shown how to jump using the B button.
Guarding is done automatically unless you are attacking.
Rush mode is charged by holding B or taking damage. When the rush gauge is full we can press X to unleash rush mode which makes us faster and our chances of critical hits higher.
We are shown that the left and right bumpers allow us to switch between characters in our party that we are controlling.
The party members can either be set to auto or manual which will make them stand still or attack according to a pre-chosen battle tactic.
We are shown that by pressing in the right stick we can change to a more static camera.
We are then free to fight three enemies with a ghost of yourself as an ally.

We can now choose to do more advanced training or leave the simulator.
Blindsides
If you charge a jump with B while an enemy is approaching you and move the left stick when the enemies targeting appears on you. You go into a blindside where you move quickly behind the enemy and can attack for a critical hit.
We are taught about short and long range blindsides. Long range blindsides just move you quickly a long distance.
NOw blindside counters, some enemies can counter a blindside and you only end up taking damage yourself if you try it. Their targeting icon shows as red, you have to wait until their icon flashes to show an attack underway before blindsiding. This means they are already committed to one attack and can't stop to counter your blindside.
Rage pointer
Enemies have a rage icon which shows red or blue. If it's red then it will attack you, if it's blue it will just attack any of your party. You can switch it you you by attacking that enemy repeatedly. You can also switch it from you by blindsiding and not attacking which makes them lose you.
We can assign special arts or symbols to thee left and right trigger buttons as we find them.
We have rising blade which flashes all sorts of lights and sword strokes.
Now we learn rush Combos, which when pressing X and a trigger button when the rush gauge is full unleashes a full party rush combo. We have to do some quicktime button presses during the combo to keep it going.

I have had enough battle training time to leave the simulator.

We are on a base on the moon.
We meet Shimada and Lightspeed Kenny.
Shimada is an asshole.
The dialogue is almost insufferable already. I hope it gets better.

We now get control of our character.
We can change to sprint or walk mode with right trigger and can also trigger a short boost with X.
Yay you can change the camera controls, thank god.
I can now wander the moonbase. The graphics are fairly rudimentary for the environments.
I find a glowing ball, which turns out to be a savepoint. So I can't just save anytime I want. Damn irritating.
Seems  that if I walk any distance at all there is a blank screen and a loading icon.
Oh this isn't the moonbase it's our ship. I find the bridge and Reimi asks if we are ready for take off.
I find an item creation area. Some cargo bays.
There are some bunk rooms and shower rooms further back in the ship.
Also a recreation room.
I go back to the bridge and talk to Reimi to start the next cut scene.
We speak to our support handler from Earth, and she is the most irritating character ever seen. Pink hair, helium voice perky.
Edge speaks to another Captain called Crowe, who seems to be his friend, he has made Captain and Edge hasn't.
Edge is jealous, Crowe tries to give him a pep talk.
The Captian of the Clanus arrives.
Kenny tells everyone the future of the human race rests in their hands.
We watch as three SRF ships launch, though there are more.
They seem to be opening wormholes and driving into them.
Something is wrong there is a distortion wave in the wormhole with them.
It passes them and gravitation waves hit the ship.
Things go pear shaped and an emergency warp out is needed.
The ship goes into an opening in the wormhole, and we see the worst star trek the ship is shaking acting ever from the bridge crew.
The ship comes back into normal space, makes a dodgy reentry through the atmosphere of a planet and crashes on the surface.
Edge awakes after the crash and looks out onto the surface of the new world.
We get control back and find all the rest of the bridge crew lying on the ground.
Going to reimi and talking to her triggers a cut scene.
The crew are all unhurt. Other ships from the fleet have also crashed on the planet. This also seems to be the planet we were heading for anyway. One of the ships is missing.
The Captain wants to go and meet up with the other crews.
Edge is asked to scout the region around the ship to ensure it is safe.

Outside the graphics for the environment aren't bad, but nothing to write home about.
We can pick up blueberries, iron, insect eggs and blackberries from pods.
I find a broken metal cutting blade in a chest.
Lot of poor camera angles, hidden walls and getting hitched on scenery.
I wander around for a while trying to see what to do next. seems I have to speak to two crewmen from another ship. They give me a sniper bangle. Then speaking to Reimi triggers a cut scene.
Reimi is worried about Crowe in the missing ship.
As she talks about the plant life a spider cockroach type thing attacks. The gunss have no effect on them. Reimi is sent back to the ship for Help and Edge finds a sword. The sword works on them and this puts us into battle mode.
We have to fight two spiders or Adephaga as the end of battle menu calls them.
We can wander around again and talk to all the injured.
Seems to be nothing else to do but go back to the ship, going to the bridge triggers a cut scene.
The Captain thanks us for saving the day. One of the other ships beacons has vanished. The captain sends us to investigate, Reimi comes to help, although Edge is mad about it.
The Eremia seems to smoking, which does not look like a good  sign.
Reimi joins our party.
With Reimi in our part we can now harvest at a glowing harvest point.
An area previously blocked by debris has been cleared and we can proceed.
In the new area we get a cut scene showing Reimi using a bow and arrow to kill one of the spiders with one shot.
I find a glowing spot on a wall which is for mining, seems we don't have the party member to do that yet.
We fight some more monsters and meet killer wasps.
Much fighting with the wasps and spiders. Level up a few times.
Have to use berries to heal and restore MP after the battles.
We go into caves and find new monsters, blob like things with teeth and what look like bats.
I have to go through miles of cave to find a save point in an exit back into the jungle area.
I explore the menus a little more and find that SP or skill points i presume can be added to the individual characters in your party. This upgrades their abilities. Battle and harvesting etc.
I eventually find the crashed ship and an unconscious crew member lying on the beach.
In cut scene the party revive him. He tells us that he did as we did and explored. They found the insects and other monsters. He tells us that they found a meteor and took it into the ship. Then the crew went mental and the he blew up the ship. Possibly the person we are speaking to is the mental one.
An alien ship arrives and a man with elf like ears arrives. He seems friendly.
As we are speaking to him the body of the man changes into a huge boss monster.
Which beats me up. We are back a long distance at the last save point.
Why are these jrpg's so unremittingly hostile to the player.
I find attack seeds which have the ability to raise your attack level.
I go back and fight all the monsters I can find in the last area. Then go back to the beach. I find some crabs on the beach.
I eventually manage to kill the boss, using Reimi as a long range weapon.
We chat with Faize who is an Aldarian. He is a member of a race which have been in contact with Earth for a decade. Seems the Earth base have asked them to help us in hour of need.
The monster turned back into a meteor when it died.
Faize joins the party and we get a meteor fragment.
For some unknown reason they want to go back to the ship on foot. There has not been a save point since long before fighting the boss. I am loathe to fight in case I die so I try and avoid all the monsters on the way back to the ship.
When we get to the ship the Eldarians have brought a field base which is pretty impressive.
Inside the base are lots of things to explore, including sickbay, a shop and a science centre.
We find the Captain and a cut scene. The Elves, sorry Eldarians are asked to examine the meteor.
I buy some bangles and a new bow for Reimi at the shop. I sell my junk and buy berries and supplies for healing.
We are told to go back to the Captain when we are ready for the next mission.
When we do We are taken to the calnus which has been repaired and also upgraded.
Edge gets promoted to Captain of the new Calnus.
He is hesitant but accepts.
Faize and Reimi are his crew.
We get to travel to another planet, I missed what our actual mission is but off we go.
Edge gets all philosophical about the responsibility of being a captain.
We speak on the radio to Shimada who is rude as usual.
Then chat about Crowe with Reimi and Faize.
We go to the battle simulator and have a fight where i get hopelessly beaten.
Then find a control in the bunk room where we can assign rooms to the crew members.
The the creation interface where Welch appears and scares the heck out of Faize with bad jokes.

End of First days play 5hours 30 mins.

I find my bed and rest until we arrive at the new planet. You have to go to the bridge and get talked through the landing sequence.
As we leave the ship, someone is spying on us.
There are new monsters, here a form of living plant called Dryads.
Birds called Perytons.
We find a village.
The villagers are middle ages level tech and think we are gods.
Ghimdo the elder talks with us, his legs are turning to stone caused by some kind of virus.
New monsters are invading the land.
As we are talking with the elder a little girl buts in and nearly knocks Edge over.
Faize recognises that the villager have rudimentary symbology. Turns out that the girl has a very powerful fiery dog attack.
Bacculus is the name of the plague. The little girl is to go on a quest to another village to get a symbol to cure the bacculus.
Lymle wants to be called Lym and does not seem to like Faize much.
After completing the cut scene I expected a save point to be available in the village. I had to run around for ages into the new snowly landscape of the mountains before finding a save point. All the time avoiding combat. Don't these developers understand that people have lives to lead and can't play on in a game for another half hour just to find a save point.

Another half hour. 6hours total.

Day 2
I fight some more lizard and mushroom type enemies.
I use the SP to upgrade my parties attributes.
I explore the area and grind. I find a bridge to the west and entrance to a large building to the east and another large castle type structure to the North.
I try the North castle. As we try and open the door a pink light enters edge and he is granted symbology powers.
Edge learns healing and Remei is jealous as she doesn't get symbology powers.
Inside the castle is a large cauldron like area with glowing blue light. There are stone shapes around it.
There are Stone golems and skeleton warriors in here.
Some of the stoone shapes have glowing blue jewels in them, pressing the jewels makes to stone shapes move up to the ceiling. These act as doors in some places and the others do something undetermined as yet.
There are rooms around the west and east of  the main circular room. In these are more monsters and some chests. Inside them I find some of the jewels that move the stone shapes.
I have to go and do some real life stuff and after an hours play I can't find a save point inside the temple. If I leave it all the monsters will return. I have to or I will be unable to save. This design is unacceptable Saving at any point should be a law with the dealth penalty for breaking it.
I find that there are doors to higher stories of the castle.
Also little green things that look like save points refill your HP and MP.
The stone shapes are locked doors basically. You have to find around 6 keys to move them all to get to one that is a lift to the highest level of the castle.
Which means much exploring and much fighting.
There is a save point before a door on the top floor. This looks ominous.
When we enter the room there is a woman being menaced by a Dragon Newt.
Lym tries to use the cerebrus summons on it but it  is defeated. The other three come to Lym's aid in a little skit on teamwork, which is actually sickening to watch.
Now we have to fight the dragon.
Which actually wasn't that hard surprisingly.
The woman we came to see was presumably the one being menaced by the dragon. She is crushed under rubble and appears dead. So it's a dead end, until Lym spots that someone has learned the symbol from a nearby village. You apparently have to leave your name in the temple when you learn a symbol.
So it's off to the next village.
In this areas we find mana yeti, horned turtles, apprentice scumbags.
At the village I find Lutea's house. She does know the symbol for curing bacculus, unfortunately this is a new strain that her symbology does not work on. We have to find the source of the new bacculus and make a new symbol for it. She gives us a symbol stone for this purpose. all we have to do is find the source.
I find my first side quest, to return a lost child to a storekeeper. The child is standing almost outside the shop and speaking to her returns her.
Inside the shop I buy and speak to the little girl. She has lost her cat in the forest, that is why she wandered off. We agree to go look for the cat.
I find a barrier made of trees, finding an orchid at random seems to have lowered the tree barrier. Now I can get back to the ship. I also find the cat so I suppose I will have to go back to the village first.
I encounter man eating trees.
Back at the village and we don't even get a reward for saving the cat!
I go back to the other village. I suppose we have to find out where the old man was to contract the bacculus to find the source.
He tells us this time that another celestial ship landed and monsters appeared and then the bacculus started.
Why he didn't mention this the first time i don't know.
We go off to the site of the ship landing and Lymle is left to look after Grampa. I was just thinking great, then the grampa sends her off after them. Seems he is sick of her too.
Edge postulates the theory that the ship could be Crowe's, however grampa said it crashed a month prior. That is to early to be Crowe. Faize suggests that it is possible if the warp accident shot them out into an earlier time. That may also be what happened to the ship on the first planet that got taken over by the meteor monster. They might have been on the planet a month longer than Edge's gang.
We have to get a fire ring filled up by a sorceress in the village to get to where we are going.
I find the path and it's blocked with mounds of ice which the fire ring can clear for us.
Along this path are sabre toothed tigers.
We see the ship in the distance and it isn't one of ours.

End of seconds days play 3:30 making a total of 9:30

Third days play
We enter the ship through an icy tunnel. The interior has locked doors which we can open with plastic explosives we find lying around.
I find a chest encased in ice and use the fire ring to open it. Inside is a skill manual, which when read by a character gives them a new skill.
We make our way through the ship to a marked point where Faize finds a computer he can access.
We see a video of aliens named Caridionon. They mutate into the lizard creatures we have been fighting and start attacking each other. Seems they have regressed and mutated somehow. The ship crashed after this change.
We go on to the bridge and find a large diamond shaped floating thing.
Which seems to be made of the same stuff as the meteor fragment. Lyms symbol stone glows, she touches the stone to the diamond and it absorbs it. A large monster then appears.
I manage to kill this boss called barachiel on my second attempt.
Seems he was the ships captain mutated. On his defeat the meteor fragment turns into a blinding light which leaves through the roof of the ship. All the lizardmen in the surrounding area turn to stone and then blow away like dust in a wind. Seems our chance of getting a cure is gone.
On getting back to the village we find that all the patients who had the bacculus have turned to stone when the monster was defeated.
Edge is distraught at causing their deaths, but Faize suggests that more and more would have died if they had not done it.
Lym decides to come with them to find the source of the meteor and all the trouble it has caused.
Back at the ship Faize find a picture of Crowe's ship the Aquila near a planet named Cardianon where the lizardmen were from. We set off to find him.
On the journey we can do the usual chatting to the crew. Welch taunts Lymle now. Faize is still in love with Edge. Lymle draws on the walls. It's more like a nursery than a serious interplanetary exploration mission.
When we get to Cardianon we find a huge artifical structure.
It pulls them in with a magnetic field.
Inside the bay nothing happens, Edge decides to go our exploring with the aim of finding our about the meteor, Crowe and getting the tractor beam turned off.
As we leave the initial bay the intentions of the Cardianons are revealed when we are attacked by their soldiers and robots.
We are attacked by more robots than Cardianons. We work our way through the ship until we come to a data terminal. Faize gets a passcode and the location of the generator. Looks like something bad has happened to the Cardianons, they may not be in control here.
We find a computer that needs an id card to use.
In the next big area we find a lot of coldsleep pods. There are mutated lizard men here, what the Cardianon turn into when the meteor stuff infects them.
Something with very large footsteps is coming their way so the gang decide to keep moving in the other direction, after all they now only want to escape.
The dead lizardman has the id card on his chest, but it's frozen on. we need to raise the temperature somehow.
I manage to eventually recharge my thunder ring using plasma from a broken conduit.
I can then hit the controls with the thunder ring and raise the temperature. This releases a load of lizardmen from the coldsleep pods.
I manage to get the card and can now use the computer.
We find out that the Cardianon were invading a lot of worlds not just Lemuris.
They have data on the meteor but they are encrypted. The file is called the ephianies of guidance.
Seems they have an object in an isolation chamber. Probably the source of the trouble on this ship. So what do we do, we go head for it. Of course we have to get  to the boss battle somehow.
The can enter a room and are teleported into a cell.
Which renders all their weapons inert.
A voice says that their power is given by the epiphanies of guidance.
A lizardman talks to them. He gives the we will rule the universe speech
He wants our gang to stop a steel giant. He thinks it's part of our team due to the same emblem. Looks like Crowe is here and causing problems.
They want us to talk to Crowe, Edge does, but only to tell him to kill em all.
Seems that it isn't Crowe as the steel giant comes bursting through the cell walls. He is an alien named Bacclus. He joins our party. We now escape the cells. There is an awful lot of this mothership to traverse and I am losing sight of objectives in all these corridors.
We get random battles from flying ships as we progress through a huge s shaped section of the ship.
Now we find forcefields barring our way.
I find two maze like circular areas with conecentic circular areas. There are conduits to zap with the thunder ring. I think I have done them all but nothing happens.
I find an area I can't get into. I don't know what to do. I am running around for two hours fighting the same monsters over and over as it's hard to avoid them in the small corridors.
I find a door I missed and explore, there is another concentric ring structure. This one has moving conveyor belts. Which make negotating the laser fields fun. There are also dragons roaming around.
I hit a conduit and Then go through another door.
Bacchus explains that he is from a race called the Morphus. Seems that the epiphanies of guidance are what he calls grigori. They are a race that seem to be parasites. The land on planets as meteors and mutate the inhabitants and take them over. They then use them to wage galactic wars just for the sake of it. Seems the Grigori just hate everything and want to destroy. They attatched themselves to the Cardianons and have nuked their planet and made them into space nomads looking for a new homeworld to invade.
Bacchus tells us that he and Crowe came together to destory the Grigori. However Crowe has been sent to the Morphus homeworld for help.
We are near to the Grigori and Bacchus hopes we can do them in without backup.

End of Third days play 5 hours 14:30 in total.

We come into a large chamber with one of the Grigori Crystals. Bacchus blasts it with a nuke and seemingly destroys it. The commanding cardiannon arrives in a walker type  robot and is zapped by sparkling dust from the broken crytal and mutates into a gryphon type boss.
This fight wasn't that hard.
He goes down fairly easily.
Edge is angry that he could not win by diplomacy and had to kill the cardianon.
The cardianon leader is not dead and hurls a grenade at the party.
Bacchus throws himself on it and is injured and though not dead can't fight on.
We get control back and in the next area find the generator. Shutting it down is a short lived affair as it immediately comes back on and a countdown to a warp starts. If the team are still on the ship when it warps they will never be able to return. Bacchus tells them to leave him as he is unable to walk.
Of course the gang are too noble/stupid to do that. They drag him along.
WE get a few corridors with bulkheads that close making us stop to fight two sets of robot flying drones.
This is repeated about five times then a cut scene. We see the woman from earlier, she stops the final bukhead from closing on the gang and appears to be disappointed that they are not the red haired man. She vanishes again.
We are back at the ship.
When you get on board a cut scene shows you leaving in a hurry and the cardianon ship vanishing.
On the ship Edge has a crisis and the gang give him support.
Bacchus wants a ride home so we take him to EnII. The Morphus home artifical world.
On the way the ship is brought out of warp suddenly and sucked into a blackhole/wormhole.
The ship crashlands on Earth. However it's Earth before the war. Have they went back in time?
Nobody seems to want to voice this possiblity.
They leave the ship to go look around.
In the garage edge finds a magazine which points to the date being 1957. The gang discuss at length.
The military turn up annd block the gang off from the ship.
Why they don't just blow them to bits I don't know.
A man called Klaus arrives and tells them to come with him and he will explain.
In the house Lymle is there and it turns out that Reimi has been captured while out looking for Lymle who run off to look around.
Klaus tells them that he will pretend to have captured them and get them into the base.
We are going to the base to help Reimi.
Klaus tells us that the base is area 51. and there is another alien there being held captive.
We are to save her as well.

End of 4th days play 1:20 15:50hrs in total.

Inside the base soldiers take us into a cell. Klaus tells us that he will unlock it. However, this will unlock all the cells and there are experimental creatures. I thought we wouldn't end up fighting humans.
We get locked in the cell.
The alarm goes off and we get our weapons back from Bacchus who is cloaked.
We see  Klaus blow up a generator and get attacked for his trouble.
We find ourselves in the cell areas fighting bigfoot and little aliens.
The gang find cat girl but she runs off.
20 mins

I go through a door and a cut scene shows the cat girl being attacked by a large creature with a birds beak and as snakes head for arms, it's called a Genomic beast.
It seems to be a boss battle. I take it out fairly easily, though a longer than usual fight.
The girl is called Meracle. She kisses the team and joins them, they tell her they are to take her home. The problem is that she can't remember where she is from. Seems she can only remember ever being on spaceships.
There is something distinctly disturbing about a tiny girl with cat ears a tail and stockings and suspenders. Very japan paedophilic.

The Calnus has been brought inside the base.
We meet Milla Bachtein, Klaus's wife. She seems to be trying to side with the gang.
Milla tells us that she is protecting the Earth, seems this is an alternate reality Earth.
Energy is running out. She thinks that nuclear power is the key to the future.
However she is prepared to take any alien gizmo that the gang might have.
Edge suddenly realises that if they give them a better energy source then it will rewrite history and save the war that destroys Earth. He seems misguided but wants to go ahead anyway.
The exalithium crystal that powers the ship is what Milla wants.
Edge wants to trust milla, however Bacchus and Faize are unsure.
Edge gives her the crystal.
Milla locks them all in a cell. They find Reimi naked and unconscious.
Milla is a nutjob and wants to blow everything up and rule it, even if she doesn't know what is out there in space.
Milla has handily built an antimatter generator, though Bacchus thinks it crude and it will blow up.
Edge has a breakdown.
We get control locked in the room and it seems we have to speak to Reimi.
Speaking to Reimi, she wakes up loses her sheet and slaps Edge for looking.
Edge has another breakdown.
Faize and Bacchus give him the Captain speech and Edge decides to leave the planet, well done, destroy humanity entirely.
We get control and speaking to meracle triggers another cut scene.
Klaus opens the cell door and lets the gang out.
Klaus then goes to speak with Milla.
Meracle takes a fit but comes with the gang anyway.
Klaus hugs Milla and tells her that kevin wasn't her fault. Seems that they lost their son.

50 mins
We make our way through another section of the base and get to the ship.
Meracle has a crisis, Edge tells her that he will be her friend and she manages to get on the ship.
The ship can't escape the pull of the new forming black hole that Milla's experiment is making without it's crystal.
Meracle has a crystal given to her by the Klaus.
Turns out that it is a special Exalithium  crystal. Faize and Bacchus are especially excited by this.
Seems that is is hugely powerful.
The gang escape and the Earth vanishes into a singularity and there is a huge explosion.
The gang find they are now back in the time they came from. The Calnus, Edge and Reimi still being here seems to suggest that the Earth was an alternate reality version.
The gang seem happy enough that all is well. Edge has a breakdown at his seeming responsibility for the destruction of Earth, even if it was an alternate one.
We find ourselves on the Bridge a quick chat around the characters shows that the engines are offline and we need to go to a planet nearby called Roak to get repaired.
Welch turns up and confirms that Earth is still around. Edge is still beating himself up. Faize is getting sick of him. Bacchus sympathises with Edge.
A ship attacks, however, another ship chases it away. An Eldarian ship, the grumpy Eldarian from earlier on Aeos is still grumpy.
The calnus limps towards Roak.
Edge still sulks, so Reimi takes on acting Captaincy.
The ship lands on Roak, Bacchus has installed a cloak which keeps it hidden from the middle ages level inhabitants.
This is a greaan and pretty land. There are unicorn wolves, honeybees, kobold bandits, axe beaks,  lurking aorund to fight.
We meet some people and they have ears and tails like Meracle, though she does not feel that this is her home.
We see a person riding a huge pink rabbit.
After much countryside we come to a town. There are weird monks in the town.
Reimi is limping for some reason.
The gang hear a cry for help. Edge wants to ignore it but the rest decide to intervene. A woman is being taken away by the monks.
Edge goes bersek and saves the woman.
Edge is seriously losing it.
The rescued woman is called Sarah. she seems simple minded. She seems to think Edge and Reimi are familiar. There is some stuff about Humans being similar to the Muah who founded the colony on Roak. The gang want to investiagte the Purgatorium. Edge is really freaking out.
No word on who the monks were and why they were taking Sarah away.
We have to ride on the bunnies to get to the Purgatorium.
The desert is impassable due to sinking sand, we have to go to a tent and speak to nomads to get some bunnies.
The bunnies it appear are like summoned creatures.
faize gets a click with the nomad girl.
We have to go back out of the village to catch a bunnie. Reimi collapses with a fever.
Edge takes her back to the village to find a doctor.
Sarah is having a dream about the village being attacked by firey zombies and a thing with glowing pink eyes.
Reimi has stone sickness, Sarah tells us that there is a cure and she knows where it is.
Edge feels even worse.
They have to go to Astral castle to find the remedy.
Again around forty minutes looking for a save point.

1:30

I leave the inn where we were and go to the barge to Astral. We get on and watch a cut scene of the gang talking to Sarah. She says her race are called featherfolk. There is a King who controls the rememdy for Reimi.
Sarah ask that after they get Reimi fixed they take a small detour on their way to the Purgatorium to meet a friend of hers. The friends name is Eleyna and Meracle thinks she has read about her in a book and wants to meet her too.
We arrive at Astral city.
They leave Reimi in an inn and go looking for the cure.
The castle guards let us in.
The King greets us. He agrees to give us some remedy. Sarah asks about the Archfiend. The king has heard of a group who worship Asmodeus the archfiend. Looks like we will soon be helping stop the Archfiend.
Edge sees someone sneaking into the castle while he waits for the remedy to be brewed.
We get control and explore a bit of castle until a cut scene starts.
The remedy has been stolen. We are now after the thief.

1 hour
We have to go back to the first town, and then find that The Black eagle has hid in the colosseum.
Seems to be a slight bug here. Getting into the Collosseum to find the Black Eagle.
Need to speak two random NPC's
Had to consult walkthrough here. Needs an objective waypoint marker.
Inside the collosseum we get another agonising from Edge. Faize says he will fight instead if Edge does not. Edge decides to fight.
We have to take on the Black eagle with only Edge, which takes me a few goes as I have never really used him due to his lack of ranged weapons.
The Black Eagle was hired to steal the remedy by someone else.
Lias turns up, one of the Kings soldiers tasked with finding the remedy.
Lias calls Edge a hero and gives him some of the remedy. Maybe this will give him some confidence back and stop him whining, maybe not.
We cut to the inn where Edge gives Reimi the cure and it heals her.
Sarah is astonished by the speed of Reimi's recovery, her sickness was totally unusual.
Reimi decides to confess to a secret. She was part of a project called Hope to make humans resistant to radiation. She is one of three that the project produced. She, Edge and Crowe.
This genetic adaptation means that the three of them have some strange powers.
Seems that the Muah genes are the source of this augmentation.
Reimi tells sob stories about her childhood and Edge hugs her. She tries to get him to come out of his mood.
He is still sulking but feels better.
Edge goes out for some air and is attacked by yobs who try and steal his sword.
Myuria turns up, she is the one from the Cardianon ship. She is looking for Crowe, Seems she wants to kill him. She tells Edge that Crowe killed her lover.
Myuria tells Edge that she will be watching him and leaves.
Meracle comes to Edge and says that Sarah has been kidnapped.
They go looking for her. seems the Archfiend's worshippers have taken her.
I trek back and forth looking but can't see any trigger points.
I decide to go and try the bunnies bit again.
At the nomad tents Faize is eager to go in, however there is no one there.
I find a bunny and we simple have to press A to ride it.
Taking it through the desert I am prompted to insert disc 2.
The town of Trop is our next stop.
1:10

I wander around trop and Find Elyna's house but she isn't there.
We are told that the Purgatorium is to the north so I decide to investiagate it.
Going through some caves we reach another green area.
I fight some little creatures called spirt priests and one of them turns Bacchus into a pumpkin.
When we ge to the Purgatorium a cut scene starts.
Edge finds a feather and thinks it looks like Sarah's.
There are statues they do look like Edge and Reimi, they could also be any two human male and females. The Muah it seems have visited earht and roak and seeded the planets with their genes.
The gang can find nothing else in the Purgatorium. Meracle thinks they should go back to trop and see Elynea.
When we get back to Trop a cut scene starts. There is a priest of Asmodeous preaching the the gospel. Telling the people that the corruption of the wealthy blights the land and withholds the cure to the stone sickness. However he suggests that Asmodeous will burn the world and all on it. Those who believe in Asmodeous will be saved and delivered into a new world.
Eleyna's house is now open. A cut scene shows the gang breaking and entering and two Archfiend thugs watching from across the street.
As the gang look around the archfiends men set fire to the house. Trapped inside and about to die the gang are teleported to a cave. Eleyna appears to be a bit of an asshole.
Eleyna takes them to her hideout and it's no wonder that a lot of people want her dead.
We watch Myuria taking out the archfiend's men who are approaching Eleyna's hideout.
Seems someone called Giotto has tasked her with stopping the archfiends ressurection.
Elyena tells the gang about the archfiend, and how she uses Augury to tell the future.
She has foreseen that the gang will save Sarah and prevent the ressurection of the archfiend.
Seems that Sarah is to be sacrificed to the archfiend to bring him to life.
Eleyna glows and talks in a different tone of voice and predicts the end of the world if the gang fail to stop Sarah from being killed.
Edge is still worrying about his performance anxiety when it comes to world saving.
Eleyna collapses rather than listen to Edge whine.
Faize argues with Edge instead.
We then get control and have to chat with the gang. Another cut scene starts.
Eleyna gives them a keycard for the purgatorium.
Eleyna tells Edge that even though his actions might seem to be a catalyst for something bad to happen, it is not only his actions that bring things to be. She tells him that he is only an insignificant cog in the wheels of fate. Which hopefully will stop him whining for a while.
Myuria turns up and tells them that since their goals are the same she is joining them.
Fire corpse monsters can be found inside the purgatorium now.
The purgatorium is a maze of corridors and chambers. There are lit braziers all ovr the place. There are also somme doors that cannot be passed due to a dark haze which knocks you back as you try and go through.
There are some braziers that are unlit. Lighting them opens secret doors. There are rooms with satutues of knights that point with theirr glowing axes at braziers which need to be lit in a correct order to open the doors. There are around three rooms with these puzzles

and then you get to the guardian of the purgatorium boss fight.
When you complete that you get a light ring.
The light ring lets you open the darkened doors.
The dungeon keeps on going and going without any save points.
There are bigger and bigger versions of the follow the knights pattern to light the braziers. Large rooms with complex floor plans and raising and lowering staircases.
The final puzzle is a huge area where water drains out of the entire area opening up a new floor plan once you have drained the water away.
Finally we get a save point, the end of level boss must be coming.
Faize overhears some priests talking, it seems they have sacrificed the girl he met at the nomad caravan. Faize goes to kill them in rage and they commit suicide before he can turning themselves to stone.
The boss is Tamiel, the priest we saw earlier. He wants to destroy the world and himself yada yada.
We get a few ambush waves of archfiend soldiers and then Tamiel himself joins in. He can spawn more soldiers during the battle which is a pain in the ass. He takes a lot of killing and I had to grind a bit on the prior areas to get my level up enough to take him out. The first time I have had to do that.
When we kill him a cut scene shows us him vanishing into a crack in the ground. The gang are reunited with Sarah. Edge has another breakdown about not blowing up the world this time.
Faize goes over and finds the nomad girls broach. His eyes turn red and he has a quicker turn to the dark side than Anakin Skywalker.
We have to make our way back out of the Purgatorium. When we do a cut scene shows Sarah buggering off with little in the way of thanks for all the rescuing and world saving.
A message tells them to go back to the Calnus.
Looks like we have to do so on foot. Eventually I make it and a cut scene.
Welch tells the gang that the colony on Aeos and the entire Eldarian race have dropped out of contact.
Time to investigate.
Sarah has stowed away on the ship.
On arrival on Aeos the base and an Eldarian ship are smoking ruins.
A ship passes overhead, it is similar to the one that attacked them in space. The one that the Eldarian with a bad attitude chased off.
Myuria says that they are being called phantoms for now.
I explore Aeos again and go totally the wrong way.
I find the phantom ship eventually and we are ambushed by humanoids with sparkly red and black skin.
7:20

5 hours
Grinding a long time to get through the phantom warrior fight.

After a long fight with lots and lots of waves of phantom soldiers we get to a cut scene.
The gang are being overwhelmed by the phantoms.
The ship that Faize arrived on arrives and blow all the guns off the phantom ship. Then Crowe and Arumat the Eldarian warrior with the attitude problem arrives.
Edge is just about to greet Crowe when Myuria attacks him. Crowe can't remember her.
Then he seems to and we get a flashback.
Myuria and her partner are on their ship and it is attacked by an unknown enemy.
Her partner sends her off in an escape pod unconscious. She awakes to see their ship explode.
Crowe seems to have saved Lucien's ship by destroying the attacker. However, he died in the ship as there was no escape pods left.
Myuria saw Crowe on his ship and thought he was the aggressor.
Crowe gives her a message recorded by Lucien that clears up the whole mess.
Edge asks about the Aeos base and what is going on with the Phantoms.
Crowe tells them that the Grigori is to blame. these new phantoms ships are copies of things the Grigori kill.
Arumat explains to faize that Eldar has been destroyed, the only surviving Eldarians are on evacuation ships.
Eldars sun was induced to go into it's red giant phase early. The evacuation fleet was attacked by Phantom ships. Eldar consumed in flames.
Crowe tells them that the remnants of the Eldarian evacuation fleet are in orbit around Aeos.
He gets a communication telling them that the phantom fleet is attacking. Crowe goes back into orbit to coordinate the battle. Arumat stays with the gang to take out the Grigori on Aeos.
Faize decides to go with Crowe and leaves the party.

We explore the north east of the outside of Aeos and then go down into the insect warrens.
4 hours.

Inside the insect warrens there are sinkholes which move you up and down a level. You have to make your way through until the boss encounter with the Grigori.
An old queen insect corpse  is animated by the grigori and attacks. This is a darn annoying boss battle against a spider like creature which can only be hurt by blindsiding. The first time that this tactic has really been used by me and it's a steep learning curve this late in the day. Eventually I manage to get it.

When the boss dies we see a cut scene of edge smashing the grigori stone. As he does the battle in space is going very badly for the Eldarians. Crowe's ship is disabled and the Eldarians are being slaughtered by masses of phantom ships. Faize takes a wobbly as he watches the remnants of his race being wiped out and goes out on a suicide mission with his own little fighter ship. Just as he is about to be killed Edge's actions on the planet cause a blinding flash which we don't see the outcome of.
Back in the warrens we have a chat with Arumat who tells us that he thinks he is death himself as anyone who spends any time near him dies. Edge tells him what he thinks of that nonsense and Arumat stays with them. The gang are going to go to ENII to find out what to do next.
We have to trudge all the way back out of the caves and back to the calnus, where can now chose to go to En II.
On the way the Calnus is attacked by phantom ships. They are saved by Lightspeed Kenny.
He listens to Edge's report and then tells them his news. The Eldarians are attacking Earth because the phantoms ships look like SRF ships, they now blame Earth for the attacks.
The Humans have decided that they will pretend the SRF never existed and thus shift the blame. Everyone who new of the SRF is dead. The calnus is the only evidence of it left.
Edge tells Lightspeed Kenny they he isn't going to go quietly. Kenny agrees and lets Edge go.
There is a flashback of Kenny talking to the Director Shimda. He is being an asshole. Which shows us Kenny's motivation for letting Edge go.
1 hour

When we arrive at EnII there is nothing visible, a diamond shaped structure then appears. A voice speaks to them and allows them to dock.
Once docked Bacchus says they have to go and meet Ex.
Bacchus asks if he can upgrade the Calnus' weapons. Edge reluctantly agrees.
We get to wander around the EnII structure for a bit then speak to Giotto. Who shows us Ex, which seems to be an a.i. which is said to transcend time.
Ex tells the gang that there is a force which wishes to reshape the universe and basically edit out all life.
Edge gets angry and asks Ex what they can do to stop this.
The unknown will that wants to destroy all life does so because the universe evolves with life and changes gently to support it. If there is no life then the universe will become a different thing entirely. The unknown will is also called the missing procedure, which feeds on life energy it absorbs from living things. The grigori are released into the universe by the missing procedure to speed up evolution and therefore speed up the feeding that the missing procedure can do.
As Ex is about to tell the gang what they can do to help its plans to stop the missing procedure as it seems it cannot be destoyed, there is a huge thump which rocks EnII.
A grigori has smashed into EnII, the gang go off to fight it as Ex suggests.
Here we have an elevator that allows us to go to a few places. There is a small town like area where we can buy some supplies and get some side quests.
We need a wind ring which I had to look up the whereabouts of in a walkthrough.
It's in a tree.
We can now get into the next area.
There are stroper, lightning corpses, cursed horrors, metal gollums and master wizards in this road to the sanctuary.
Eventually I get to the sancutary through a long maze of very samey block like corridors.

Here there is a recharge point, a save point and some monsters to grind in case you haven't reached a high enough level to defeat the boss. The boss stands in the centre of the arena waiting for you to walk up the steps to the platform. Which is nice of him to wait until you have grinded the monsters around the platform and got all the items surrounding.
When we take him on a cut scene shows the creature, a humanoidish shaped knight. It spouts the usual Grigori stuff about one being all and reshaping a new universe. The gang are rendered unconscious by it and all looks lost before it has begun. However, Reimi's power marking glows and she gets up and shoots the grigori in the head. This seems to break the spell and the others awake. The grigori is shocked by this display of power. With everyone up again the fight begins.
This is a long long fight, not hard like prior fights where you just weren't levelled up enough.
The boss seems to be armoured in a way that only at very specific times can you do any real damage. You just have to keep on plugging away and eventually you get there.
The gang are happy to have defeated this Grigori and Giotto tells them to rest in the centropolis.
Edge and Reimi have a little intimate moment.
We get control back and are back in the centropolis.
When we go to the control room loads of morphus are waiting to congratulate the gang.
Giotto tells the gang about the Nox Obscuris. An interface between the grigori and the missing procedure.
The cycle seems to be that the missing procedure absorbs life energy, to facilitate this the grigori are produced to stimulate the rapid evolution of life. The Nox Obscuris is the method by which the life energy is channelled to the missing procedure. If this Nox obscuris can be disabled then the Missing procedure would be starved of energy.
The Nox obscuris is a planet and there is one life sign at it's core.
The Morphus intend to assult the planet. The Calnus has been upgraded.
The Nox obscuris is also on the move, it's destination Earth.
Heading to the calnus starts a cut scene. We watch as EnII moves in front of the Nox Obscuris and launches all it's ships including the Calnus. There is a huge space battle.
The Calnus breaks through the first lines of defence only to be met with much larger forces nearer the planet. As they approach however the phantoms are attacked by Eldarian forces.
Gaghan and Kenny are there and hail them.
With renewed vigour the combined Eldarian and EnII fleets engage the Phantoms. The calnus is able to get to the pole.
As they approach however the whole planet morphs into a dragon type ccreature and breathes fire. The fire toasts most of the fleet and the moonbase, we see Director Shimda's deserved end.
Edge is left nearly alone with little left to fight with.
Crowe turns up, however his ship is wrecked.
Crowe tells them that he thinks Faize is dead. He plans to drive his ship inot the beast and blow the engines making a black hole that will destroy the beast.
This he does after a little speech.
This leaves the Nox Obscuris exposed and the Calnus comes in to land.
Lymle's drawings on the floor of the ship which had seemed childish now prove to be symbols and she uses them to shield the ship while it lands.
Eventually we are down on the planet and fighting a variety of phantom versions of enemies we have enocuntered. The landscape is a lunar type surface with venting gas and balls of plasma flying aroound and exploding.
You can use the plasma as elevators to get to higher levels.
Eventually the gang get to a hurricane which seems to be artificial and blocking the way.
Meracle tells them she can smell something different and leads them to a way in created by a part of Crowe's ship.
There is a temple ahead and after speech making the gang go in.
Inside time is frozen until we stand on a plate. There is a swinging bridge type set up here. Like the pendulum of a clock.
There is plenty of monsters to fight.
I find the exit and move on.
The next area is composed of metors and teleporter doors which take you the next rock.
There are two large rooms full of monsters and treasure, with two areas of the meteors. There are three pendulum rooms as well. This is a right big maze and the save points are non existant.
You have to examine a mirror and a statue in order in one area to get a staff which is needed to break chains holding the last pendulum.
You then get to a save point and the boss.
The apostle of creation chats for a bit, he thinks that life is full of sadness and woe, he proposes that it should end and the new form of life that the missing procedure wants to create.
After fighting the apostle it turns out to be evil Faize.
He transports you to a strange dimension.
This is a maze where you can't see too far in front of you. There are hundreds of grigori, if you touch them then you have to fight a boss from earlier. Eventually following a light that the rest of the gang can't see you get another cut scene.
Edge sees many people telling him that this is the light of life itself.
Edge manages to bring the gang out of the dimension and back to the Apostle/faize.
Faize takes this badly and starts a process which seems to go badly for him.
The apostle changes into something else, like a robotic angel.
I die after about half an hour of plugging away at this boss.
Long boss battles are a real turn off for me.
I try and increase my stats and find all sorts of shit in here. Monsters I have killed loads of have 100% monster data and I can add the data to monster jewels of which I have around 12 of. These jewels can be worn and increase stats and grant immunities too certain things.
The beat system has me clueless. I can change between three settings, however my characters are only powerful in one type of beat, so that is no use.

I level up to level 70 by hours of relentless grinding.
Eventually I manage to kill Satanail.
We see Faize as he usually looks fall to the ground.
Edge and Lymle call him a dummy.
The building starts to fall down around them. Edge and Faize are trappped while the others are urged to make a run for it.
All looks bleak as the place crumbles around the gang then Giotto turn up with his teleporter which now works due to the missing procedure being down. Edge and Faize end up with Faize hanging over the edge of the chasm. Faize lets go and Edge can't hold him.
Edge then is left to fall as the others are saved by Giotto.

The scene cuts to Kenny giving a speech to a un type organisation.
The upshot is that the Prime directive from Star Trek is to be implemented so that evolution is allowed to go on in it's own way. We see Reimi and Edge watching, how can this be we just saw Edge Die.
The scene cuts back to just after the Nox Obscuris disintegrated. We see Edge arrive back with the fleet on Faize's ship.
The gang are told that The Eldarians are going to move the remnants of their culture to Lemuris. Edge takes a strop and tells them that it's a bad idea. He likens what the Eldarians will do to Lemuris as the same as the Missing procedure.
After debate the Eldarians vow to go to lemuris without their technology and go back to the middle ages level of tech to fit in with the Lemurans.
We see Lymle return home to Lemuris.
Bacchus to EnII.
Meracle to stay with the seer woman.
Sarah finds her wings still don't work.
Myuria lays flowers on the grave of her husband.
Arumat can't hack being back to the middle ages and flies off on his own.
Edge and Reimi get a ship in the interplanetary transport fleet.
They meet Klaus, only he does not know them, it seems he is this realities version of the man they met on the alternate reality Earth.
He talks about making a human warp drive and not relying on the Eldarian one.
The credits roll.

Seems I have spent around 60 hours playing.
270 Measly achievement points.

Shadow Complex Notes

Let's play on hardcore to be masochistic

Washington DC
We see two swat team type soldiers sneaking along an alley. A man in a white power Armour suit drops in and takes one of them out. He looks along  the alley and the soldiers are engaging men in black types.
The armored man talks on the radio and says that a blindside is in operation and he has stolen an enemy powersuit. He asks permission to engage and is told to let the secret service handle it. He does not get permission but goes ahead anyway.

We get control
Left stick moves you character. Right stick moves his gun arm and aim.
Y is reload.
A is jump.
B is action.
X is run.
Right trigger is shoot.
Left bumper turns a flashlight on and off.
Right bumper triggers special weapons.

I move to the right and shoot a few soldiers. Then a helicopter attacks, pushing the right stick in it's general directions hits it and it doesn't take much to bring it down.
The powersuited man is called Dallas he tells someone that the vice president is safe, then the vice president is blown up. Someone called Lucien comes over the radio and tells Dallas that he has overridden his power Armour. Dallas drops to the ground.

The scene changes and a woman is standing in a field near a cave. She speaks to a man called Jason who comes up behind her. Seems they are new lovers and Jason and the woman are going to explore the caves. The girl goes down the rope first and then we get control.

The first thing we are told of is the flashlight. This is used to show which key opens doors. Seems we blow things open with weapons and only certain weapons open certain things.
The flashlight shows us which we need.

We drop down the hole into the cave.
We are shown that we can jump higher by pressing and holding A.
We move into the caves and Jason can't find the woman who it seems is called Clare.
He finds her pack and we are told we now have climbing gear.
With this ability Jason can now grab higher ledges and climb up.

We now come to an artifical man made door, it is locked. I drop down a hole and the door of the hole closes up. Above Jason we see two soldiers kidnapping Clare and dragging her through the door. Once they are in the door opens up again and we can now go through.
There is a security camera which sees us, it's beam goes red, I run to the door under it and it seems to lose track of me.
In the next room is a grate in the ceiling which we are told might be interesting later on.
Jason sees a computer and finds the place where they have taken Clare.
We have to sprint past a camera.
We then go through a maze of air vents and come up in a control room. We can see a monitor where Clare is being beaten up by a soldier. A voice comes over the radio and tells the soldier that Mr. Sweet will interrogate her and to bring her to the helipad.
Jason has a flashback, seems his dad trained him from a young age to be a soldiers. The problem was that Jason decided he didn't want to be a soldier when he got older.
His dad tells him that one day he would find something worth fighting for, seems that day has come.
Jason picks up a gun and we are into the game proper. We are very easily killed. The complex is huge and I am geting lost already.
I find a big elevator which takes us up and down a 45 degree angle shaft.
It seems that the rooms marked with a star on the map allow us to save or are checkpoints.
I find a room with grenades, by getting into the room through a vent we are trapped inside. It does not take me long to put two and two together and find that placing a grenade by the door blows it open.
I get my first boss battle with a mechanical spider type beasty. We have to hurl grenades underneath it.
Good rag doll effect when you shoot the soldiers.
You can swim in the water and there is a section where you have to go under through tunnels coming up for air in little enclaves.
I catch up with Clare just as she is bundled into a helicopter and taken away. we have to fight a few soldiers and a walker, using only a crate as cover.
We get chased across a lake with a little island in the middle by a gunship.
Then we get into another section of the complex.
I find a wsmp50 machine gun, Jason uses controls to unlock an impassable door.
Guns have unlimited ammo.
We progress through a large area with lots of soldiers and a walker.
Then into a cell area where there is a vertical lift.
We get to Clare and she is being tortured by Mr Sweet, whom Jason makes short work of.
Clare is paralysed and can't move. She tells Jason to leave her in the torture chamber until he can secure transport.
Leaving Clare behind I come across an emplaced gun, we get a full 3d shooter type section when we use it. Which is quite fun.
I find a robot which uses a kind of foam weapons which immobilises you, you have to press B rapidly to break free of the foam.
I find a wheel to turn which fills an area with water so allowing us to swim to a place we could not reach before.
I find a green object which is attached to pipes, throwing a grenade into the pipe sends fire spewing out of the other end of the pipe which usually ends at the cover place of some bad guys.
I find the MP40 machine gun.
I find a mine cart that you have to ride and jump off to get across a wide chasm.
There is a little stealth section, two guards patrol through laser fences, you have to hide in vents and as the men patrol the fences switch off for them, this means if you follow them in the vents you can get past.
A cut scene shows Jason trying to steal the power suit we saw Dallas wearing at the start of the game, however he only succeeds in getting it's jetpack.
We now have a bit of backtrackking to go and find the suit which has been moved. The boss of the facility is now annoyed and thinking we are more than just an intruder with a gun who has been lucky so far.
We encounter pipe joints that we can shoot, shooting them in the order they come in lets us flood an area and raise the water level enough to get to the next area.
Another boss battle, a huge mechanical spider again, this time it we have to flood it to kill it. Shooting the pipe joints while avoiding the rocket fire.
I find the scuba mask.
Now we have more backtracking to get to the next part of the omega armour.
However this is more fun as the entire area is now flooded. We see bodies and debris floating around gracefully, there is even tinkly music to accompany.
Getting through to an area we were in before I find I can now go down a long flooded chasm as we have infinite O2 due to the mask.
We get to a factory and Jason speaks to Clare on the radio, he tells her that these people are building enough ordnance to invade a country. Clare suggest it's their country. She implores Jason to try and sabotage the factory. He reluctantly agrees.
In the factory superhot pieces of something kill you fairly quickly.
This is a real maze with lots of soldiers to kill. Lots of secret vents.
There is a large fun shooting gallery section on an emplaced rocket launcher.
I find the foam gun???
There is a room with six presses in it, shooting foam into intakes jams them and breaks them. This seems to be enough to make the automated factory break and we have completed our objective.
Clare now wants us to go to the dam and get the omega suit.
Earlier we have met doors with security scanners, these can now be passed by shooting them with foam.
I now find a robot that can be immobilized with foam and used to reach a hard to get ledge.
Now a real irritant, water that is electrified and nearly instant death.
This really does gip, first really bad design choice so far.
Turning off in disgust.
So far 4:26 on the in game clock and that was over two play sessions.
Back again, manage it by extending the platform a little using foam.
Now we are doing a little backtracking before getting to the new areas.
A spider boss comes at us again.
We cross the lake outdoors again. There is a turbine blocking our way and we have to foam up the innards to progress.
The helicopter attacks again, this time we have a foam emplaced gun to gum it up with.
We are now into the storage area of the omega armour.
We have to turn off the laser force fields using a computer in the basement and then back up to the armour.
The armour has an a.i. and it says that five components of the suit are missing.
I get to a room where four machine gunners are standing in the distance, they cut me to pieces, there are cover plates that move seemingly of their own accord.
Hiding behind the plates and shooting is the way to go though it seems a bit glitchy with the aiming downrange sometimes.
The next area is a boss battle with a man in a similar suit to your own. He is fairly easy as I did it first time with little trouble.
I get the first component of the suit, it as a friction dampening device which allows you to run at high speeds and kill soldiers and break crates as you do so.
Interesting little puzzles with jumping and getting a good enough run up to smash through barricades of crates.
Another easy boss fight against an armoured opponent.
We now get a new gun called an ar60.
Our next objective is to get back to Clare.
This is a long but fairly quick trek through the earlier parts of the game, the objective seems to be to pick up the secrets that you could not get earlier, like doors that could only be opened using the foam to gum up machines.
When we get back to clare, guess what, she has been found and is being taken somewhere else in the clutches of guards.
I get another weapon upgrade in the form of missiles.
I can now open all the red doors we have been seeing with the missiles.
We have a showdown with two of the armoured soldiers and then a cut scene shows us getting Clare back to the jeep and away with instructions to call the cavalry. Jason decides to stay and wreak as much havoc with the terrorist plans as possible before the cavalry arrive.
We now are told to go and collect the remaining four pieces of the armour.
Backtracking through the complex as guided by the blue line we find a gear system that can be shot with the missiles to blow a hole into a new area.
Here we have a boss battle with a giant buzz saw type spinnign disc robot.
We now get the hook shot.
The hook shot is a short range grappling hook. It feels very bionic commando now.
There is a boss battle against a giant walker.
After the boss battle we find thrust amplifier after a little puzzle with electric force fields is solved.
I find the inertial element which is a gun.
We enter what looks like a control room and the masked leader of the terrorists gives Jason a speech telling him that he has done nothing to disrupt their plans really and it's time to die. The control room explodes and you have to get a good distance away from the location backtracking around ten rooms worth in a big hurry to escape the blasts.
Once done I go all the way to the last component, here I find that you must collect 11 pass keys to get it, I have around 5. Oh well that component isn't needed anyway it seems as the blue line wants me to go somewhere else. All the way back I go.
At the blue marker a cut scene shows the lake drain of water and a huge flying paltform lift off and start heading for San Francisco. The restoration leader chats about the roman empire and the new USA order mirroring it and building the greatest empire the world has ever seen.
This is the final battle. We have three missile platforms. Activating a computer brings up a nuke and then we get onto a targetting gun and have to fire it at the platform.
The platform shoots missiles back at you after you hit it. There are three platforms to activate and shoot the nuke then you blow up the platform. The restoration leader comes at Jason and rants at him. Clare shoots him in the head.
Clare and Jason have a spat about her really being an agent and bringing him into this. A helicopter arrives and they both get in, the credits then roll.

Proving grounds are like training or little challenges. around about 15 of them and some are very hard.

Turning point: Fall of Liberty Notes

Hell Let's try insane difficulty.

StoryThe alternate history here is that Churchill was killed in a car accident thus eliminating his contribution to history. This led to Britain being invaded. Now the Nazis turn to America.No time is wasted as we appear to be a skyscraper contstruction worker in New York when the Nazis invade.We have to escape from the attack and get to ground level.A cut scene shows our character being asked to join a counter attack and get in the back of a military truck.A building comes down in the distance and everything is shrouded in the dust cloud.We are now in the army. We are tasked with defending a position until the subway can be used to evacuate as many civilians as possible.The barricades come under heavy attack and eventually we have to retreat.We watch a news broadcast saying that things are going badly.Our character is now embroiled in the war full time and helping a platoon take out a machine gun nest.We appear to be trying to get out of New York and head for Washington.We get on a train and escape from New York.A cut scene shows a new president being elected. He urges surrender. Looks like a Nazi puppet.The real president is in hiding leading the resistance.We are part of the resistance hiding in a safe house, we get found by germans and have to escape across rooftops and through some houses, attack a factory which seems to be making green gas and then suddenly we are joining a group rescuing a general.We rescue the general.The general plots an attack on the Whitehouse to depose the nazi installed President. The Nazis are planning to use the newly developed Atom bomb on a major US city to demostrate their power.We attack the Whitehouse and assassinate the President.The Germans plan to nuke New York in retalliation.Suddenly it seems we are in London, about a thousand miles from New York. I don't think rockets went that far in those days. I mean I know it's alternate history and everything, but wouldn't it be better to just dump the bomb in New York, by say truck than send it halfway around the world?I don't even know what we are doing in London, Carson is now trained to jump out of planes and defuse atom bombs, good stuff for a construction worker.We enter the tower, and have to find the underground lab. Once in we find a scientist and defuse the two remaining bombs. However, the germans already have a finished bomb and are loading it on a Zeppelin bound for New York.
Carson fights his way onto the zeppellin, fights his way through the zeppellin to the bomb and makes it explode before getting to New York, but only just.Carsons reward for all his trouble is cleansing nuclear fire, well done that man.

Mission 1
We have to get down from the half built skyscraper. It is being bombed and is falling down around our ears.There are workers tumbling to their deaths all around us.We have usual analogue fps stick control.B is used for actions like climbing onto ladders.We come to a bridge and a nazi is landing on a parachute. We rush up behind him and are told to press B to grapple. Once held a press of the dpad in a desired direction choose what to do next. In this instance an environment kill knocks him over the edge.We get his gun.Left trigger to Aim down the gun and right to fire. We can jump and climb up certain surfaces with A.We pick up another weapon and can switch by pressing the dpad left and right.We make our way down through another building, out onto a window cleaning lift and shoot some airborne soldiers. Then down to the roof of a building and have a little firefight with some Nazis. We find our way through rubble and down to the lobby of a hotel.We come out into streets and find we have to climb on a pipe. Pressing B near the action icon gives us a third person view as our man clambers along the pipe and pressing A when it's safe to do so drops him down to the ground.We start a fight in earnest now. Lots of germans in an alley type area.Once we get through the alley we come out onto the streets.There are exploding barrels.

Mission 2
We are told to get a weapon from the subway.In the subway a man called Angelo gives us two american guns.We are told to go back out and defend the east barricade.There is an emplaced gun to use.we have to defend against waves of nazis, some with rocket launchers, then two apcs and blimps which drop troops. Once that is done you have to go up on the roof and fight some blimps and troopers who have dropped into the building.Next to defend another barricade that is coming under assault on the other side of the subway barricades.Some really poor checkpointing already.We have to defend a barricade against some soldiers and an apc, then a tank turns up.We are told to go through the sewer and crawl up underneath it and plant a bomb.The bomb is a small minigame, a poor one, we have to press and hold buttons whoose colour matches the order on the wires of the bomb and then rotate the left stick until it tightens the wire on the contact, pressing up oon the dpad then arms the bomb and we have a few seconds to get out of the blast radius.Once done we are told to go back to the first barricade and defend it again.There is a tank and another manhole, however it wasn't obvious, well it was but it wasn't signposted. I spent ages shooting hundreds of germans before eventually seeing it and going down the manhole, planting the bomb and blowing up the tank.

Mission 3
At the end of a street is a barricade with german machine gun nests. We have to get close,go down and alley and climb up a roof to flank them.Patrolling above are blimps which give of a searchlight beam, get caught in the light and machine gun fire is incoming.We get to an area and are told by a resistance man to head through the trainyard.We have to climb through this area. Introduced is jumping and grabbing onto highlighted sections of scenery.We get into the train area and fight some soldiers.Wow seriously unbelievable checkpointing here, I died and went back to the start of the mission???I just got trapped by one of my own a.i men, I nearly had to blow myself up to continue, but managed to jump clear after a minute or so trying.I make it to a subway tunnel and a checkpoint at last.We have to make it through abandoned subway trains in the tunnels.Ridiculously long without checkpoints, most games would have had three or four checkpoints in the space of this games one.Now we get snipers, a sniper rifle we pick up uses an infra-red light or somesuch to highlight snipers as if we were wearing thermal vision goggles.Eventually after killing four or five snipers You get back out onto the streets and find a checkpoint.We meet up with more national guard and are now making our way to a train station.Grenades don't throw very well, snagging on invisible walls. The sniper sights seem broken, crosshair dirrectly on a soldier and then not dying because they are behind an invisible portion of a bit of cover.The checkpoints don't even cover the slower sections, for example at one point in this mission you make your way through a broken building, with no enemies at all inside. You meet up with national guard and are told there are snipers outside. You go out, get sniped and have to do the whole building trek each time. It's just not fun, who thought it was.When we get through the snipers and germans in the street, we are attacked by a blimp. We are told to take it our with a rocket launcher lying around nearby.Once done we get on a train to end the mission.

Mission 4
We are hiding in a flat, looking out at the germans who are doing a sweep of the area.They are looking for us and it seems they find us, or we can't stand by and watch as they shoot innocent people in the street. We shoot out the windows at some germans, then a tank rolls up and blasts the flat. Germans start making their way inside. After we kill enough we are told to make our escape accross the rooftops. The tank conveniently blows a hole to escape through.You character seems to move like he is in treacle.Each time you die on the rooftop you go right back to the start of the scene watching out of the window.Grenades have a huge blast radius, on the small rooftops there is literally no getting away from them.How many times do I have to repeat the same things????You would think the whilst crouching, pressing the run button means stop crouching and run, but oh no.Finally a checkpoint. You find a rocket launcher and can shoot the tank. Checkpoint right after it. Did a competent level designer suddenly come on board.Oh look a grenade from nowhere and absolutely nowhwere to run to avoid it's blast.I give up endless long trudges between checkpoints mean that you repeat each section of the game endlessly, making what was slightly fun repetitive.No a competent level designer would realise that checkpoints are things to liberally spread around a level.You have to make your way down two crowded enemy filled street, through a factory filled with enemies and turn three valves to blow up the factory, then run through some houses again before seeing a checkpoint at the end of the level.I would have finished this level in under an hour if there had been checkpoints. No checkpoints make your game longer but much less fun.
Mission 5We are storming somewhere rescuing a general.In an underground garage. Fight to an office pull a switch to open a door.Then into a cell block area, another switch to progress.I come to a large room and the general is being held at gunpoint. He hits one the germans in cut scene with a chair and a firefight ensues. He seems less prone to dying than the other a.i.We fight through offices and corridors of the german headquarters and out a back door into a waiting truck.

Mission 6
We are attacking the Whitehouse.We have to storm a bunker and use a bomb to blow open a door.Now another bunker and blow open a fence.Now another bunker and into the whitehouse basement.We go up in a lift.Now in the inner kitchens and basement of the WhitehouseWe clear them of enemies and then our men come in and plant bombs.Germans ambush us and then I get sent up in a dumb waiter???Big fight in a lobby of an ornate Whitehouse.Then through some corridors until we find the President in the Oval office and shoot him.We now have to make our way out of the Whitehouse.Just saw an ally a.i. sliding along the floor crouched on his knees with no animation. The ally a.i. shots hurt you, so if you go screaming into a group of Germans and take them out daringly, odds are that some of the damage you take will be from your own men.Your character seems to run around as if he has his arms out doing an aeroplane, is seems to be the only excuse for the amount of scenery you get caught on.Finally manage to escape must have seen the same corridors around ten times dying in a stupid frustrating glitchy manner each time.gun gets stuck in iron sight mode at times, and somtimes your gun will not fire despite being full of ammo.

Mission 7
We parachute onto a roof and have to clear it of soldiers. A poor strategy really, wouldn't a grenade or bomb or two from the plane have helped before we dive into the hornets nest.Anyway you land, kill some close soldiers, pick up a sniper rifle and snipe the rest from cover.A door opens and loads of soldiers pour out, you then get inside the building.Where we get the longest stretch yet of tight corridors without checkpoints.A room filled with enemies and a new chaingun toting baddie finally sees a checkpoint.We are now inside the secret lab area.Stretches off corridor broken up with rooms with machinery. Long checkpoints see me turning this off after 15 minutes in disgustWe then go through two offices with soldiers, a long corrior with machine gunners and enemeis jumping out of dark corners. A huge room with four or five enemies. When you enter these rooms it's like you are in an airlock and you either have to run out and find cover or hope that you don't get hit like a fish in a barrel hiding in the airlock.Another room with three doors is next, still no checkpoint. You get one door with an machine gunner behind it. Another with a lever to open a gate in the third room and the third room contains two atom bombs a scientist and some enemies. Once and only once you have killed everyone, spoken with the scientist and wired the bomb do you get a checkpoint.Now you have to make your way all along the same route you just came with new enemies and no checkpoints. When you reach the first part of the undergorund lab with the lift down the scientist is being held by germans, shooting them all is the way to go, the scientist is indestructible. You go up in the lift and meet your team, where the mission ends.

Mission 8
We are now chasing a zeppelin which the bomb has been loaded onto. The zeppelin is making emergency repairs at the top of tower bridge. We have to get on board.First we have to destroy a patrol gunboat. A rocket launcher is nearby.Falling a few feet into water is instant death???I have had enough of insane difficulty, it will make me insane, the cramped corridors and the boat on the bridge are just too annoying to do over so many times. checkpoints would have made this far more tolerable, even fun. I am changing the difficulty level down to easy and just getting this abortion of a game finished with.I get the boat cross the bridges, go through a huge open area inside the mechanisms of the bridge. Then finally a checkpoint.I have to go through some office type areas filled with soldiers up some stairs to a control room and pull the levers to raise the bridge, this sends some german tanks flying.Then we have to climb up through the tower to the top.We come to a hole in the tower and there are some girders to climb along, however the control is abysmal and you end up falling to your death as you have no idea what key to press to climb up from the girder. Eventually after a few times having to kill a roomful of soldiers between each try I find that it's B.We have another elavator and are then on top of the bridge. There are loads of germans with better guns up here. The zeppelin also has emplaced guns which make things hard.I can't seem to kill any of the guns so I run around looking for a way to get onto the zeppellin. I find a rope and even though I am still being shot to bits by the guns I get to watch Carson climb the rope while he is turned into chum in god mode. Nice.

Mission 9
We are now inside the zeppellin. There is a huge cargo hold type area where we have to move in between tightly packed vehicles. There are catwalks above where Germans appear and shoot at you from above.You enter a lift and then into an area where there are pistons you have to climb between hanging from a pipe.We have a huge fight in a hangar area which is made fun due to you having the sniper rifle available and the large amount of exploding barrels.You pull a switch in a control room and open doors. Then a fight through some tight rooms and corridors of the living quarters of the zeppellin. You then come to a control area.And finally make your way down to the room where the bomb is.Here there is a stupid array of switches that seem to do nothing. Trial and error triggers the bomb to move and fall. Soldiers come in but aren't that hard. Now we have to open the bomb which took a bit of working out due to total lack of logic.You press B on the bomb and that's it game over.

Roughly 11:30 to complete 7 of the nine missions on insane and the rest on easy. The checkpointing got too much for me.

The Conduit Notes

The Conduit Notes

Choose a save slot.we watch an into video composed of newspaper clips. A voiceover from the hero Michael Ford talks about conspiracies and how knowing the big picture makes the little pieces that are usually unfathomable come clear.He tells of how you can never unlearn what you find out and should be careful as it's better not to know.

Mission 1
We watch as Michael recovers from an explosion.He is told that his suit may be disrupted and we will have to recalibrate it.We are told to look at two signs to the left and right of us. Then to move using the nunchuck stick. B is fire and - is reload.We are told to move to a waypoint. A bug is in our way but unaware of our presence, we are told to melee it by thrusting the wiimote forwards.We come to a room with three hatcheries on the walls. Monsters are generated from them. We have to kill the hatcheries to prevent monsters spawning.We are shown the all seeing eye. Pressing + brings up the eye which when shone around the room shows up hidden objects. Using it on two nodes opens a locked door.In the next area we travel through a subway train wreck and get introduced to the sniper scope weapon.Pressing down on the wiimote dpad zooms in.We are then shown conduits which are closed by grenades. The all seeing eye will also show us where to go next if we get lost.In the next area is a subway station. We fight some monsters and come to a much larger conduit. We have to kill a set amount of enemies and then we have our suit recalibrated and are told to go through the conduit.
We are told that we have completed the mission and have earned an achievement!!

Mission 2
Cut scene, 5 days earlier. We speak to a Mr. Adams. He is a trust agent, it seems we are too.He tells us to go and stop a terrorist known as prometheus.We enter an airport and find that agents are attacking us. Our handler tells us that they have been taken over by Prometheus. We have to fight to the lounge where we have to survive waves of swat team members.We run through some very similar looking lounges and corridors defeating the same waves of swat and suited enemies.Then come to a subway station where we get on a train. We havve to run the length of the train fighting soliders and radiation suited men.The weapons introduced here are a machine gun and an atomiser gun. The atomiser can have it's trigger held down to charge up it's blast to a stronger intensity.Radid fire is just as effective.At the end of the train we find a man on the ground with a jammed gun. He blows something big up rather than be captured.We get the All seeing eye at the end of the mission.

Mission 3
We are to go to Prometheus's base in bunker 13 and try and retrieve his computer files.We are told that Prometheus is no ordinary terrorist. The president is being linked into our camera feed that Mr. Adam's sees and is observing so as to witness the level of threat Prometheus poses to America.We enter the bunker and are told to find the computer.The all seeing eye starts to blink. It blinks fatser as we get closer to our objective.We find a data disk with it and a puzzle lock which opens a door.We find a new red dot siight magnum one shot kill type pistol in the secret area.Back on the mission we enter a control room type area fight a few soldiers and then hack into a computer with the ASE. Prometheus has developed a neurotoxin which is stored nearby. We are to try and destroy it.We see a man sprayed with neurotoxin come under Prometheus control.We fight through some new areas. there are red things on the wall which pulse. I don't know what they are but it does not sound like a good idea to go near them. You can shoot them so I do. There is also a thing on the wall which emits green pulses. Shoot first ask questions later.Another door lock that needs the ASe to find two key nodes.We have to negotiate a stairwell filled with soliders then go into a lift.We encounter alien drone soliders. They are hard because they come through conduits. You have to close two conduits with a grenade. Poor checkpointing here makes it hard. You should have restarted after dying at the drones not the bottom of the stairwell.eventually I close the conduits and progress. We have to backtrack a bit and then go to a door on the stairwell. I find a secret room here also.We find a destroy a barrell of the neurotoxin here.We are now looking for the water filtration system where there may be more of it.There are steam pipes venting which we cannot pass. Turning a wheel turns it off.We now get to an area with 6 steam valves that we have to shoot to stop the neurotoxin from being put into the water. Once done we have to run for it before the place explodes.We have to fight our way up a long corridor to the surface. Then the bombshell hits. Mr. Adams tells us that we are going to die and it was nice working with us. Our hero is understandably nonplussed. The drones attack in force. We are at the washington monument. We have to close four conduits to stop the influx of aliens. There are new aliens here, once which roll up into a ball and roll at you. When they get close they spring open and explode.Once the conduits are shut with grenades or the newly available rocket launcher we have to wait for a helicopter to extract us. A few waves of mixed human and alien enemies and we get picked up by the helicopter.

Mission 4
Prometheus tells us that there is a drudge nest under the museum of congress. We must take it out before they hatch. He tells us that he is giving us a trust suit which will regenerate our health over time.Michael is not sure who to believe but Prometheus has saved his life and Mr. Adams obviously betrayed him. Not sure what to believe he decides to go along with Prometheus for now.Now this is more like it. The run and gun gameplay that is encouraged is backed up with a regenerating health. The first few missions with regenerating enemies and health packs was a bit less fun than it could have been. The recklessness needed is rewarded more with regenerating health.We fight some agents in the library of congress building. It's quite grand, nice arcitecture, good polygon count for the wii.We have a locked door with four nodes in the main area. The nodes are spread out much further than previous levels.Once we get the door open Prometheus tells us that we have to hack into the computers.Another three node lock and two rooms of bookcases.Then an area with circular bookcases.We goe through a few sections similar to the ones we have just been through.There are mines that need the ASE and node locked doors to negotiate.We come to a large room with suspiciously little resistance for a room that looks like it's going to house a boss battle.We have to hack a door and then a computer. We have to defend the computer while Promethus hacks it. We then get some new flying enemies.An opening has appeared in the middle of the large area, after we clear out the flying bugs.We are now down into the sewer system.Where we fight through some gates which need wheels turned to open them.We then start seeing tentacles of drudge growth. Then we find their nest, large tree like stuctures with egg sacs everywhere. We have to clear out the large room of about 28 egg sacs and then the mission ends.

Mission 5
Prometheus asks us to go on another mission, however, Michael wants answers first.Prometheus tells us that Adams and the trust are planning a coup. He wants absolute power. Prometheus took the ASE which was developed by the trust to prevent Adam's plans. Michael has been on the wrong side to start with. The president convinced by Michael fighting the Drudge at the washington monument has granted Adams a huge amount of power.Adams now plans on killing the president and taking over direct control of the country.Michael plans to resuce the president.We find ourselves in the whitehouse. We have to take out conduits in both wings and avoid flying new enemies.There are new atomisers that shoot straight beams of cleansing white light. A new bigger enemy found at the end of the mission does not seem to know the meaning of clipping.At the end of the mission we find ourselves in the oval office and Marine 1 is outside on the lawn trying to take off with the president in it. We have to destroy seven nodes on tentacles that are keeping it from taking off.Once the eight nodes are shot we have to kill any remaining airborne drudge.The President makes his escape. He tells Adams that he can do what he wants as the President thinks it was one of the trust men who saved him. Since Michael is wearing trust armour he has been mistaken as one of them.

Mission 6
We are to go to the pentagon to prevent Adams from getting control of the military defence network.We get improved damage repair and better jumping ability unlocked by an upgrade to our suit.We find ourselves in a trust storage secret room and work our way out onto streets.We have to close three conduits and find a five node lock.Then we get inside the building for some stairwell and corridor shooting. There is another node lock.We get our first glimpse of a larger drudge a bug squid hybrid thing, huge.Jumping out of the broken building onto the streets we encounter larger drudge soldiers.They drop a hive cannon when dead.Another stairwell another broken building to climb out of. We then find ourselves in a street riddled with snipers, mines and respawning drudge with a hidden conduit at the end.Turned game off in disgust after trying this street five or six times.I eventually get down the street and destroy the two conduits spawning thee endless monsters.Now down a corridor with a mixture of alien emplaced guns and pods spawning monsters.There is a handprint scanner to hack with the ASE.The room with the codes we want has three computers to hack, we get two waves of nastiness after hacking each one.I have came into this room at a checkpoint with a gun with only about 8 bullets and the rocket launcher.There are emplaced guns to take out and flying drudge to kill, which seem to respawn infinitely.The first wave consists of a boss creature which is invisible until you train the ASE on it and disrupt the invisibilty field.Then you can kill it.Next is a wave of soldiers and drudge. Which isn't fun with only a rocket launcher.The rocket launcher seems to kill nobody unless you get a direct hit and the splash damage is only deadly to you.I got out of this room, up some stairs then into more offices. On dying here I got sent back to the boss room. Fucking hell, do they really want me to stop playing and give this game a negative score?Unforgivable checkpointing here.In the offices are three conduits to close. A node lock to open, then more stairs to go down, into a broken walled office to shoot around five flying drudge before finally getting a checkpoint, what the hell were they thinking here.Now we are in an open area with gardens and an ornamental fountain.The crab lobster beastie arrives and we give it what for with the alien shrieker rocker launcher and it goes down easy.I was expecting this boss battle to be impossible after the checkpointing before it.

Mission 7
Prometheus can't find the drudge nest as it seems that the one we destroyed earlier isn't the only one. Now this is more fun, we are in a street and the drudge that we kill don't respawn, once we clear the area we are told to move on.We have another fight in the same street round the corner then down an alley to a place where two conduits are spawning drudge.Then into a ruined building.Running through it we come to a bridge and another similar but larger and now green crab monster. It goes down fairly easily also.Across the bridge we fight more non respaning drudge and then down a hole into the subway system.The subway is infested with pods and little drudge.Then out into the streets for moree conduits, shoot outs in alleys and two boss monsters at once.Now down into a subway station.We have to fight trough the station and tunnels where we find a train blocking our way. Using the ASE on the controls moves it so we can progress.We are now back to the start of the game before we went into flashback mode.We work through the same rooms as we did at the start and come to the large conduit.This time there are loads of enemies guarding it. I am unsure what to do. Will they continue to respawn until I do something? Will there be a finite amount of enemies coming through the conduit? I don't know and walkthroughs are the only answer. Once armed with the fact that a finite amount of ememies are to be killed before you can progress I hang back and lure the enemies out in clumps and take them on on my terms. You then go through the conduit. Why couldn't you just run through avoiding the enemies.

Mission 8
We appear in a lab type environment, drudge are in tanks and humans in hazmat suits attack us. Then sooldiers dressed in the same suit as us.We have to blow up four nodes to allow promethus to get through interference to talk with us.Once the nodes are shot you hack a terminal to open a elevator.The elevator comes and there are two soldiers in it waiting to kill you.No checkpointsFuckings ridiculous. Turned it off in frustration again.Having to finally admit defeat here and turn the difficulty down a notch.Managed without any difficulty whatsoever now.Into the lift, press the button and down into another area. Four more nodes to shoot and thorugh to another lift.Fight in a corridor type area with moving cover.Now we are in a large two floor area with a button on the top floor to press to open a door.There are around three of these areas cut and pasted. We have to make it all the way to the bottom and hack a terminal that puts the lab into self destruct mode.We then have to escape before a lock down comes into effect. We can't as an explosion has strewn debris over on the the rooms and we have to take a long road to escape.We then have to hack into another terminal to open our way to the cell block. Inside here we fight guards then drudge released from cells. Finally we get to meet Prometheus. He is the only real alien here. The original Drudge. All the others are clone hybrids that Adams has cloned from him.Prometheus used the ASE to link to the outside world where he set up a resistance movement to Mr. Adams.Prometheus urges us to destroy him so that Adams can no longer make clones.Michael does without a seconds compassion. We are out using an eleavtor like a shot.

Mission 9
We leave a lift and fight some trust operatives.Then there is along room with lots of conduits at the end. I can't close any of them. Looks like another surviveathon.Yes it is, thanks walkthrough. I hang back and wait for the enemies to come to me which takes them away from the medbugs which heal them.We are now trapped by Adams in the facility which is about to self destruct.We have around 6 panels to hack with the ASE. Each one frees a huge scarb monster.All of this has to be done against a three minute time limit.Oh and by the way Prometheus didn't die he uploaded his mind into the ASE.I kill most of them and then just free the last three and make a run for it to the conduit.We get a little scene of Michael beating up drudge as they come through the conduits then jumping through.We see him flying through the conduit to an unknown destination.
The credits roll with a little blurb of Adams speaking to an alien. Seems Adams is an alien in exile on Earth and there is some sort of alien war going on which Earth is becoming involved in.

I get nothing for completing this, the achievements in the game are hollow.
Tried multiplayer, took about 7 minutes before i gave up trying to get into a game.

Prince of Persia Notes

Weird voices and people asking for wishes, bad guy wants his wish as well if the human is going to get his. Who is doing the granting?We see the prince wandering through a sandstorm, looking for his donkey and gold.Elika is being Chased by guards and lands on top of the prince accidently. He follows her. This is the tutorial.We move the prince with left stick, camera with right. A Jumps.We are shown how to jump at certain walls to run along them.Guards corner Elika, Prince intervenes. We have to fight. X attacks with our sword. B with the gauntlet. Right trigger blocks.Elika tells Prince to get lost again, he does not heed the advice.We learn to jump up between two close walls.Guards push over a pillar on the prince and he barely escapes, however the bridge he was standing on collapses sending him plumetting to his doom. Elika uses her magic to save him. This seems to weaken her.we carry Elika for a bit then fight some more guards.We learn about acrobatic attack with A whilst fighting.We are told to press left trigger to talk to Elika, she tells us that she suddenly developed these magic powers. No one has had them for centuries, she does not know why she was chosen.We fight again and are shown how to counter attack after being attacked, by pressing right trigger at a certain time.We find the temple, which is an impressive structure with a huge tree growing out of the top.We climb a wall using fissures and use a turning wheel type structure to open the temple doors.Elika tells the Prince that the temple is a prison to Ariman, the God of Darkness.Inside the temple we are shown how to jump at wall rings which then pull down with our weight and open doors.In the centre of the temple is a grassy circle with a smallish tree which seems to be made of the same magical light that Elika exudes. The guards turn up with a large man in black who it seems is Elika's father. He challenges the Prince to fight.After we take his energy down he goes to the tree and swipes it. All hell breaks loose and swirling ribbons of darkness fill the room. Monsters form from dark treacle like conglomerations.The temple is collapsing and huge fissure open. Ahriman's voice can be heard threatening end of the world type scenarios. We have to fight two of the shadow creatures and then jump through the collapsing temple to escape. Once back in the main courtyard of the Temple Elika explains the task ahead of us now, although the Prince is far from happy about being roped in to save the world again.The fertile grounds are areas of land that feed the temple with life energy which keeps ahriman imprisoned inside it. The fertile grounds are now corrupted and we need to go and restore them to give power back to the temple. Ahriman is not free yet, if we do not restore the fertile grounds he will get totally free of the temples hold.
The map screen shows areas that we cannot get to yet. There are four areas we need to go to first. We must collect light seeds to unlock powers so as to be able to complete the other fertile grounds.We spend a little time chatting with Elika, seems her people live here and tend the fertile grounds. There is a god of light as well I presume Ormazd.
We are told about four corrupted who are the bosses of the game.Entering the first path to the fertile ground we find rings set in the walls, if we jump and then press B at the right time we can chain the rings together and reach higher areas.
By setting a destination on the map we can use Elika as a GPS. Pressing Y gets her to fire off a magic sparkle which shows us the way to go.
We find vines on the walls that we can clamber on. Also wallrunning can be extended using rings and pressing B at the right time.
Death is impossible, Elika saves you whenever you fall. Setting you back only a few paces.
We come to the first destination. It's a maze of jumps and places to explore. The corruption, the black treacle like sea is rising from the bottom of the area.there are slope type areas which you slide down.We find columns which the prince can grab onto and clamber aorund. He can also climb to the top of them and rush along the ceiling to the next column.We find the fertile ground which is a circular area of the level. Once there a boss fight is triggered with the alchemist, one of the corrupted.After we defeat him Elika heals the fertile grounds. The area changes from dark and deary to beautiful and lush.Elika is drained by the process and we need to get her light seeds which are glowing orbs.There are 60 of these light seeds in each fertile ground area. Seems we will need to collect these to unlock powers and to progress.You can spend time here trying to collect as many as possible. It seems that you can't get them all yet as some areas are inaccesible until you unlock more abilities.
I move to the next area on the map of the four starter levels.
Section 2The hunter is here Elika tells us.A quick climb up a tower.Fight with the hunter is the usual fare of attack, throw, gauntlet and dodge block.Then heal the fertile grounds.I run around for a little while collecting the light seeds.
You can teleport to the areas you have already healed and back to the temple.
I set target for section 3.
Section 3The royal palaceThe concubine will be here.We enter the area and one of the pillars we jump to is an illusion created by the concubine.The prince falls onto a large circular stage. Elika is tied up in corruption and The concubine teases them both. The prince has to negotaite the area trying to reach the concubine three times, each time he gets there and strikes she is not there, just an illusion.The concubine finally deems it time to fight and the fight is as usual.Elika heals the fertile ground.
Elika tells us that the light seeds are a gift from Ormazd to help her.After collecting a few more light seeds we have 60 and are told to go back to the temple to activate a power.
At the temple we have the choice of four glowing discs. There seems to be little to differentiate them and we will have to get them all by the end of the game. I pick at random.We are given a tutorial in a glowing light filled area. How to use the power plates, basically get close and press Y. This sends you flying off into space like Sonic the hedgehog hitting a bumper.
Elika tells us that Ormazd and Ahriman are brothers.
Elika's father appears, it seems he has sold the world out because Ormazd did not save his wife.
Now on the map four levels are glowing which suggest we can do them now.There is still one of the four basic levels to do.
Section 4City of lightThe warrior.A king who sold his soul to Ahriman in return for the power to crush his enemies.The variety here is that the warrior is sending out shockwaves that knock holes in the enviroment.When we get to him he is a great hulking troll of a thing.He can't be hurt with our sword. So we have to find a way to push him off the edge.We basically have to attack him until he stomps us where elika and the prince push him off with quicktime events.Heal the fertile ground.
I teleport to the next area, one of the harder sections.
Section 5The ruined citadelThis is one of the areas shown in a demo of the game before it was released.We have to use a flying plate, as we do the bad guy jumps us in mid air. We have to fight him. Once his energy is half gone he runs. We now have to get up to him. He unleashes moving corruption that slither around making timed obstacles all over the area.The path to the fertile grounds is much harder to work out, well more complicated anyway. Less obvious.Another fight with the boss and fertile grounds healed.
Section 6The windmillsThis is the inside of a large windmill tower.There is a puzzle with two gear cogs covering up the power plates. Two levers must be turned to make the cogs align so that the plates can be used. Quite annoying, I hate iq tests, maybe because I'm thick.darn it, another puzzle.This one is more complicated with three cogs.Now some more platforming and another fight with the hunter. Fertile land healed.
Section 7Machinery groundWe fight the alchemist here, he infects the Prince with the corruption. We have a time limit to heal the fertile grounds before the prince dies.The route is complex but fairly easy.The prince is healed along with the landscape.
I get enough light seeds to gain a new power.Back at the temple we meet elika's father, he is infected with the corruption. We have to fight him.
The new power gives us a yellow power plate activation. When using these instead of being shot out in a direction we are guided through a tunnel of wind.We can move slightly inside it so as to avoid hitting walls.
Section 8Martyrs towerHere we have a yellow plate which sends us looping around like idiots. I preferred the straight line ones.When I manage the looping without hitting the walls the hunter springs a trap catching us. We must find a way out.On the way the hunter attacks and is defeated.We get to the top eventually and heal the fertile grounds.
Section 9Marshalling grounds.We have to use the flight plates a few times, fight the hunter.Then heal the fertile grounds.
Now all the four lands held by the hunter are gone the black gate to his sanctuary is opened.
Section 10Royal gardensJoy, more i.q. puzzles.To use a plate we must fill a pond in the garden with water which acts as a counterweight.There are lots of little ponds that fill the main one.can't be fucked with this shit, walkthrough.If I wanted to play brain training I would. I bought Prince of persia for it's jumping and climbing and pretty pictures. Not to do i.q. tests. There should be a warning on the box. This game contains i.q. puzzles which will make your brain hurt.No lets try this
! -o o- -o- -o- ! ! ! ! o- o- -o- ! ! ! o- -o- -o- -o ! There that is how I eventually got it open. I feel brighter now. Sorry for my earlier rant.
Fight with the concubine, seems harder this time she blocks much more.
Section 11Coronation HallSome plate flying, which is a bit naff.The concubine leads you on a merry dance through the area.Then you fight her and heal the fertile ground.There was one new addition here. There wasa flying bird made of corruption that the concubine unleashed to attack you.
Section 12ReservoirThe alchemist has a resevoir filled with corruption for us to have fun with.We have a fun ride around on red plates with some jumps at the end of each ride.Then a fight with the alchemist.
I have come to the situation where I need more light seeds to unlock another power before I can do more areas. I need 83 light seeds. Which is a bit of a chore really. I mean yes, if you really love a game then you might want to spend time finding all the hidden collectibles. But to make orb collections one of the main focuses of gameplay then it's a bit much to make a side task into main game attaction.
I eventually find the 340 seeds needed.
Back to the temple for the power of hand of ormazd.Power is same as the red plate ony more wobbly looking.
After getting the power we see a vision, Elika's father laying her corpse on a slab and asking that she be brought back to life. Seems she was, at a price.
Was releasing Ahriman the price for her ressurrection?
Section 13Ahriman's tower.We have to climb the outside of this tower and there are movable ledges and circles with ledges that twist around turned by cranks.When we get to the top we fight the big rock guy whoose name I have forgotten.We have to push him off the top as he is indestructable.
Section 14City of lightNew spike corruption obstacles here.bascially running along walls and timing it with the spiky corruptions erruptions.Fight with the stone guy, trap him in a cage to win.
Section 15Royal SpireWe have to climb a tower filled with clockwork, using power plates and we have to time it right between obstacles.Fight with the concubine is as before, annoying.
Section 16Spire of dreamsLong and complicated journey up the inside of another tower, using all the techniques so far.Quite fun actually.Fight the concubine, not so much fun.
forgot to mention that there have been slides down the outsides of the towers to get back down, which is fun.
Now it's really getting annoying, I need 141 light seeds to gain access to the next four levels.I get down to 16 light seeds left to find and they are getting scarce.I decide to try one of the black gates that have opened. Do I need to do all the preceding areas to complete these ones. If i get in and can complete the area will I have access to more light seeds.
Section 17You have to use a combination of red and yello plates to get to the hunter and the swirling of the yellow plates is complicated and you have to dodge loads of times.Yes I can get in and get to the boss. I take on the hunter in his lair and defeat him in a similar boss battle to all the prior encounters.We then have to escape the crumbling area using yellow plates flying.As we exit Elika collapses and takes a few seconds to wake up. The Prince is flippant as usual.The best bit is that you get 25 light seeds credited to you for completing the level.
I now have enough for the last power.
This power allows you to run on walls for a lot longer, you can steer as you do and as long as you don't hit anything you keep going.
Father turns up again for another fight.Once we get his health below halfway he vanishes.Now we can do the remaining four normal levels.
Section 18We have a rather prolonged annoying, no checkpoint run through the inside of a building using the green plates.Then we have to knock the troll out of another tower.
Section 19Tower of OrmazdWe have a brief plate running section then a fight with the troll. This time we have to lure him into three pillars and get him to knock them down on himself.This isn't the end though, We have some fairly perilous climbing to do.The when we get to the fertile ground the troll bashing around at the bottom of the tower knocks it down.We have to the make a descent to the bottom again to find the fertile ground and heal the land.
Section 20Heaven's stairWe have to use the green plates to run through some narrow wooden structures.The switch four switches in a room to progress. Up a turning escalator and then boss battle with the Alchemist.
Section 21Constuction yardWe have some of the usual platforming.Then a final, i hope logic puzzle. We have platforms withh beams coming out on the sides of the squares. We have to rotate to platforms using levers, however they all rotate at once so we have to figure out the pattern to get to where we want to go.Once you get to the fertile ground we fight the king again.Game glitched here after finishing the fight with the Alchemist the game froze, although I could still move the camera nothing else would work.Saved the game and quit. Went back in and all was well.
Section 22The observatoryBoss battle time.We have to make our way through lots of red and green power plates to the first leg of the boss fight.The Alchemist escapes and we have to follow him.We have some red plates to negotiate then a final boss fight and the end of the Alchemist.We then have to escape the collapse of the scenery.
Section 23The palace roomsShowdown with the ConcubineWe have to negotiate yellow and Blue plates. Fight the concubine over three different areas.When we get to the third area the concubine snatches Elika away, about six of her appear and stand in a circle around us. The concubine demands we choose the right one.When you go up to the clones they vanish. When you cut them with the sword they vanish. This seems to repeat. The only thing to do seems to be to jump off the edge. This is the trick as Elika comes to your aid. The Concubine's spell is broken and it's fight time.Once she is down you escape the collapse, which this time is easy, just a straightforward no dodging ride on a yellow power plate.
Section 24Warriors fortressFinal battle with the warrior.We have to neotiate some yellow and red plates. Then knock the warrior off of the pedestal we fight him on.When we do he comes climbing back up it on fire.We then have to fight him. He seems invincible, until you notice that his health is going down slowly on account of him being on fire. You simply have to wait until his health goes down. He throws the pair of you off the pedestal at the last second before he is healed. Elika thinks he was saving the pair of you, but the Prince thinks it was just a last ditch attempt to kill them.You have to run away through the collapsing landscape this time.
Now it would appear to be the final battle.We enter a ghostly realm and have a marathon of all four types of power plates to negotiate.Then we come to the room where we first saw the tree and Elika's father chop it down.Elika's father appears and he is fully turned into a corrupted. He asks to be free. Is Elika's father actually Ahriman?We fight Elika's father then he jumps off the edge rather than be healed.Ahriman turns up and he is big and nasty.We have to run around the outside of the room avoiding his huge fists and waves of corruption that lap up the walls. When he get three fertile lands healed we go bouncing off red plates and into Arhiman's mouth, where Elika heals him from the inside.This seals him back in the tree. Elika heals the tree and dies. It seems she knew this would happen as she says sorry to the Prince first.The prince carries her body to her mother's tomb and lays it out. We are shown four trees with glowing lights in the distance and given control.Going to each one and chopping them down lets loose corruption on the area around the tree.Once all four are chopped down we are pointed back to the temple. Where we go back to the room and chop the main tree. This gives us a light to carry back to Elika.This brings her back to life. She calls out why to the Prince. The final scene is the Prince carrying Elika away as the temple collapses and Arhiman escapes.
Wow that seemed to take a long time to complete 20 hours at a guess.550 achievement points.

Prototype Notes

Only allows you to choose normal mode, hard is locked out.
Initial cut scenes are very impressive. What looks like heavily photoshopped real world footage is mixed with computer generated characters. We see the city in ruins with red vein like tendrils growing over everything. There are soliders walking through the city with full body protection armour on. We see Alex squatting on a rooftop looking down at them. He jumps down and then runs through the city, we see his speed and strength.The scene shifts to night time and a girl runs from an alley into the arms of the soldiers, she is being chased by horribly mutated zombies. The soldiers let the zombies have it then shoot the girl anyway.Alex turns up, mutates his arms into spikes and lets the soldiers have it in very gory fashion. One tries to blow him up with a rocket launcher, Alex vanishes in the smoke. When it clears the soldier who fired the rocket helps up a wounded soldiers and is gutted for his trouble, Alex has shape shifted into the likeness of a soldier. Alex runs off into the city.
Mission 1 training??We get control, we are immediately being attacked by soldiers.There are about five soldiers to kill, we can do a basic attack with X and advanced attacks with Y. Usual analogue stick controls. Jumping is with A.We have to go to times square. We are told to hold down right trigger to sprint. This allows us to run up vertical surfaces. When we get to times square we are to kill more soliders.Then a tank arrives.We take out a few tanks then have to move to another location.Then some larger muutants turn up. We have to kill about five of them. We are shown that pressing and holding left trigger while looking at an enemy will lock onto them.Then the military turn up in large numbers, tanks helicopters and soldiers.We are told to go to the commanding officer and consume him by pressing Y. doing this dissolves the soldiers and absorbs him into Alex. Alex then lets out a huge spiked blast of organic matter. The mission ends and we fade to credits. There is a cut scene of Alex on a roof talking to an unseen person.
We then are back 18 days. we see Alex supposedly dead on a morgue slab. Two suited doctors are about to do an autopsy. Alex wakes and the doctors run for it. Outside we see the soldiers killing the doctors, they see Alex and shoot him, but he does not die. Alex then makes a run for it. We get control.
Mission 2We run from the facitity called Gentek and then have to run to a specified spot on the street while being pursued by a helicopter.Alex is shot at by a rocket and grabs a car which was about to fall on him.We are set up to hurl the car back at the helicopter.We are shown that moving right stick while locked on changes between enemies visible on screen. Pressing B while holding an object hurls it at the target. We blow up the helicopter and are told to get to higher ground.Running up the side of buildings is akward at first, but I am sure I will get the hang of it.You can speed up your run up tall buildings by pressing and holding A to make a jump up the side as well as running.At the top of the building of choice two helicopters attack and are despatched by hurling air conditioning units at them.In cut scene Alex is exhausted and slumped against a wall. A soldier walks up and puts a bullet in him. Thinking he is dead the soldier turns his back on Alex to report. He is grabbed and absorbed by Alex. A commander comes to investigate and we are told to grab him using B and then abosrb using Y.Doing this results in a cut scene showing garbled memories of the soldier. Alex needs to get his memory back and something in the soldiers memory tells him to go to an apartment of someone called Dana. Possibly Alex's sister.We go to her apartment marked on the map. When we get there there are military everywhere. We are told to go to a vantage point on the roof and scope out the area.When we get there we are told about disguise. There is an icon on the bottom left of the screen surrounding the mini-map. If we are being watched the shutter is open, closed if unseen.If we blow our cover a meter rises. Fill it and we will be attacked despite the disguise. IF we get out of sight the meter will drop and we can go back out again in disguise.If we walk slowly and normally in disguise we can get past the guards without trouble.Mission accomplished.
Cut scene shows Alex saving Dana from soldiers. Alex takes her away and she tells him that he was investigating Gentek. She was assisting him. Alex decides to go to his own apartment and look for clues. Dana shows Alex a safe house, the owner is away for a year.
Mission 3We have to go to alex's apartment which is uneventful.However the bad guys know we are there right away.Alex sees a picture of a woman which triggers a memory. The military have rigged the room to blow and the blast throws Alex out into the street.We see the man in charge getting into a tank and leaving. Two helicopters turn up drop soldiers. We see one of them radio for a strike team. If we stop him before he can we will have less enemies to deal with. I am too late and the strike team is on it's way. I kill the soldiers and am told that if I am in a disguise when the strike team arrive they will lose me go away. I do this. I am told that I have to get to the man that bombed me before he is extracted, he is in central park.I go to the location and try and break the tank he is in. I don't have the super powers I had in the prologue and fail and die. Next try I find I can use the radio to give the all clear as I am disguised as a commander. Doing this gets the man to walk from the tank to the helicopter. I run up to him and absorb him.This starts a montage of his memories. He works for Gentek and the military and talks of a virus that is loose in Alex and refers to an outbreak in Idaho that went badly.
Future Alex muses on the past, talks about the need for revenge and answers, and wishes he had never found them.We are shown the upgrade screen.There are several cetegories, Powers, movement, survivability, combat, disguise,I buy airdash, diveroll, sprint speed 1, jump upgrade 1, flying kick boost, sprinting grab and shield power.Back at the map and we are now in free roam mode. There are side missions available and the next mission is marked with a star.I find a landmark collectible, one of two hundred.
Mission 4 Behind the glass.We go back to the safe house and Dana, Dana has Alex's laptop which has been posted to her.On it are pictures of a girl named Elizabeth Green.We see the commander of the Blackwatch talking with his men, a man has been chosen for the special mission of capturing Alex.Alex decides to go to the Gentek facility and resuce Elizabeth Greene.We disguise as a soldier and can get into the base. However we need a commander and key to get further inside. There are viral detectors that sound an alarm if we get close.I find the base commander, there seems to be no way to get him isolated. So I just grab him and absorb him. I run away until I lose my wanted level.Back to the base. I find the same commander again, wow clones.Never mind that glitch, but how am I supposed to get the guy alone surrounded by men and viral detectors.Anyway I get inside and we get a cut scene. We see the inside of the facility is covered in the viral growth. Pods are also pulsing as if they are about to give birth. The girl is sitting in an isolation chamber. She is wearing armour of some kind. When we go up to her she is clearly mad as a brush or possessed by the viral hive mind. She hits Alex, goes out through the wall and the monsters hatch, She says she is our mother, whoose mother, Alex or the monsters.Outside the monsters start attacking the army. Alex absorbs a soldiers so he can know what he knows.There is something about a skylight and a storage facility. We have to go there and bust in through the skylight. Where we will find the hardware to deal with the monsters.I thought I saw rocket launchers but I can't find them. I just punch the hell out of the monster and kill it. I can absorb it and this unlocks claw powers.More monsters come in and eventually there are about six of them running around in the enclosed space with us and the soldiers.The soldiers drop their weapons when they die. When we pick up a dropped weapon we can use it by locking on and pressing X. Rockets are fairly good against the hunters.Once you have killed enough hunters and more and more keep coming it looks like you are going to have to find another plan. Alex decides to blow up the five huge fuel tanks. Using rockets on them makes them blow and once all are blown the place explodes killing the hunters and soldiers but leaving Alex alive.
I buy Health boost 1, groundshatter.
Side mission 1DisembowelmentYou have to kill as many enemies as you can in a time limit. Killing 29 soldiers gets me the gold medal for this side mission first time. I am sure it will get harder.
Side mission 2High flyingTraverse waypoints as fast as you can.Basically a straight ascent up a skyscraper collecting waypoint orbs as you go. Once you get to the top back down fast. I manage the silver award, gold is out of my reach at the moment.
After the side missions I have some more EP to use. I buy stealth consume, which answers my question from the earlier mission. I also buy jump upgrade 2.

Mission 5 Dana send us looking for Karen Parker who may be a lead.on the way we find a full scale riot going on.Meeting Karen she seems to know us well enough for a kiss. She looks troubled when we don't know her.Outside all hell is breaking loose, infected people turning into mutant zombies. The big hunter monsters running around.We are told to absorb a soldier for information.We are to get an apc to transport Karen through the riots.At the base we have to use the stealth absorb to get a commander identity and key.Going up behind the target and pressing B stealthily absorbs them.With the identity and key we can go inside.We are asked to absorb and apc driver so that we can learn how to drive an APC.Then in the apc we have to go and kill some soldiers. Back at the place where Karen is we have to destroy an infected hive. Which means we have to shoot blisters of egg sacs on the side of the building which are cocooning people and making them into monsters. Once enough egg sacs are damaged the building collapses.Now Karen tells us to go to a map location and the mission is over.
I cut scene Alex of the future talks to the unknown man. He tells us it was a mistake to release Greene. And that Karen was the key to understanding what was going on.

Running around I have found some landmark orbs and pink hint orbs. Which give you EP.
Mission 6Karen wants us to collect some samples for her of genetic material from water towers and an active hive.We have to go to an area where there are water towers. The water towers seem to react to Alex and hatch as soon as he goes too near. He has to go in quick and attack them before they hatch and collect yellow orbs of genetic material. Do this enough time to fill a meter and you progress. Hunter's and military run interference.Next objective is to go to a hive and collect more genetic material.The hive spits out the genetic material orbs for us to collect. We have to keep the military from destroying the hive until we have enough material. Mission ends at that point.

Mission 7Alex and dana see that a battleship is coming into the harbour.Alex wants to go after McMullen the head of Gentek.We go to a base and absorb the commander using stealth. His info tells us of a mobile airborne detector system that can find Alex. It can also find out where he has been and that will lead the military to Dana's apartments. Alex decides to take out all the airborne detectors as he knows where they are thanks to the commanders knowledge.We basically have to take out groups of two apc's, soldiers and airborne detectors. Around six in total to complete the mission. At certain points the patrols get close to the apartment and one has to taken out against a time limit.
Future Alex talks to his friend again about finding McMullen and what he told him. All cryptically so we don't actually find out anything of course. It looks like the man he is talking to might be the soldier tasked by the general to find and kill him.
I get jump upgrade 3, thermal vision power and wall jump latch.
Mission 8The military are putting detectors on the rooftops now. Again we have to destroy them all before the military find Dana.There are 10 detectors on rooftops to destroy.
We see the General and McMullen give the Captain a toxin to inject into Alex that will either kill or return him to normal.
I decide to try and infiltrate one of the marked military bases that can add to my powers. By absorbing key military personell Alex gains their skill and experience. I get a tank driver, marine strike team commander and a rifleman, which all upgrade my abilities.
I buy consume boost 1 and dashing slice.
I try some side missions again.Side MissionsPoint to point race. Same as the eaves one but accross the rooftops.War, fight with the military to kill some infected. If the military all die then it's mission over. If you kill the infected with them in a set time then you win.There is a mission type where you have to glide from a rooftop to a set target like a parchute jumper hitting a bullseye.I complete a military consume event where I have to get three commanders and consume them within a set time limit.
I buy whipfist power, air recovery and musclemass power.
I destroy two hives for the military, it does not seem to help much as by the time i have done the second it looks like another has sprung up.I buy groundspike upgrade 1 and street sweeper.
Mission 9Dana finds out that Gentek teams are investigating hives. Alex decides that if he goes and attacks the teams it might force McMullen to show himself????We have to go to a hive and absorb a commander.We find out that Mcmullen will only be brought to a hive to study it if it has been subdued fairly heavily. We have to go to one the is under control. The problem is that The military have set up the virus level detectors around it. We have to walk up to four of them and turn them off. Then McMullen is called and nearly lands in a chopper. However the hive reacts to Alex and Mcmullen sees this, he flees. We are left to flee the military.

Mission 10We go and speak to Karen who thinks she can sure the virus outbreak if she can get a sample of the material at the heart of a hive.We go to a marked hive and drop inside through an open skylight.Finally we meet Captain Cross face to face. The man tasked with killing us. He is a boss battle. Looks like Karen has sold us out as this looks like a trap.Cross has a cattle prod like device and seems to have an electified suit as most of our strikes end up electrocuting ourself. He fires rockets and seems to have a laser sighted weapon as well.The key is to wait until he has fired his rockets and then get him when he is reloading. He helpfully announces this. Health comes in the form of soliders and infect which get spawned into the room. eventually you wear down Cross' health. He flees the fight and Alex follows. On the roof of the hive Cross mentions Penn state or something like that to Alex which triggers a memory, while Alex is distracted cross injects him with the antidote that McMullen gave him. ALex is hurt by it and his powers become unstable. Though disguise and movement abilities are unaffected. We have to escape.
A bunch of web consume targets appear in one spot, seems like the game wants us to know a bit of story background. The injection we have been given seems to mutate the virus and turn it parasitic/cancerous. Elizabeth green was a surviour of the first outbreak in Idaho. She is the best hope for a cure as she has some kind of resistance. She is also looking remarkably young for being 55 years old.
Mission 11 Under the knifeWe have to go and see a Dr. Ragland who may be able to help us sort out our powers and get rid of the parasite which I presume will kill Alex.Dana is getting freaked out by Alex and his rather dark abilities.Ragland tells us that we need to find patient zero from the first outbreak. The spectres, whoever they are have the bodies.We have to go to location and hijack an apc. This triggers a web infoburst about where the bodies are located.Now we need to draw out the spectres so that we can absorb one of them and gain knowledge on the bodies locations.We have to basically destroy enough marked military targets so that the spectre reinforcments arrive. Once they do you absorb the marked commander and the mission is over.We learn that Ragland once was in charge of the bodies from the first outbreak. The general is now in control of them. McMullen has been killed and the general has taken command of the whole situation. The cancer parasite infecting Alex was taken from a host. Who or what that is we don't know yet.

Mission 12 the stolen body.Ragland thinks that the parasite can be stopped by cutting off it's food supply. Did these guys take biology in school?Anyway back to the game. We have to get transport for Ragland.we have to steal a tank without causing an alert.Then drive back to the doctor and then to a base.At the base we are attacked by monsters and have to defend Ragland in the lab for three minutes. Then kill all the infected in the room before we can leave.Once we leave we find ourselves back in the tank and have to drive through the city back to the hospital. There are now huge tentacles errupting from the ground.

End of 2nd days session 4 hours 30 minutes totalling 8 hours now.
Mission 13Ragland has analysed the samples from the corpse of patient zero. He thinks that by finding a specific hunter dna type and mixing it with his cure and then injecting it into Alex he will be able to cure us.We have to find the correct hunter type, which means stealing a helicopter armed with a dna scanner.We first have to learn how to fly a helicopter.Usual control types for a non-sim helicopter. A and X are altitude up and down, left stick accelerate decelerate and strafe. The right stick steers the copter.Once we have to controls down we have to use the detector to find the right water tower, then scan it. Once found the hunter is hatched and we go down and get out of the helicopter. We havee to attack and kill the hunter, when we would usually absorb it Alex injects it. We now have to give it time for the anti-bodies to build up. The hunter runs from us and we have to follow. Eventually we are told to fight and absorb it again. This ends the mission.Alex is cured, the tumor is gone and we have new full body armour and blade weapons.
I buy breakdown smash, uppercut launcher, curb stomp, regen delay boost, tendril barrage devastator and palm slam.
Mission 14 Rescue DanaWe are talking to Dana, having a moment, when a hunter breaks through the wall and steals her. Alex gives chase.We have to follow the hunter for a while as it runs through the city. Then fight a group of hunters until the one with Dana appears again and runs. We follow it until we are blasted by rockets and lose it. Mission over.
Dana has been kidnapped by Greene for whatever reason. Future Alex tells his pal that Greene was the hive mind behind the infection. Future Alex also tells his pal that Greene is dead and the only leader of the hunters is now Alex himself.

Mission 15Ragland tells Alex that the hunter who took Dana is a special leader hunter. Alex sets about consuming him to learn more about the virus and where Dana is.We have to go to the leader's location, attack him and absorb him. The absorbtion process does not work on the leader. Alex decides to lure the leader back to the abandoned base lab from earlier. Here we take on the leader and knock it out hoping the Ragland will be able to study it.
Mission 16Ragland tells us that the leader is an adaptation of the virus to our absorption process. There are two brains in the beast and both must be subdued before we can absorb it.He tells us to practice absorbing the one we have caught and then go looking for the one that took Dana to find out where she is.We go and fight the weakened hunter and absorb it. It gives us a new ability. We can see infected people who are not yet showing symptoms. Absorbing these people somehow will help us find Dana. Seems silly but here we go.Ok I abosrb one of the glowing soliders, and it tells me that I am now connected to the hive mind. When I am connected I will be able to know the location of the hunter leader.We are directed to a military base where there is a high concentration of carriers, this is apparently how Greene is spying on the military. Absorbing around ten soldiers gives us a true connection to the hive mind and the location of the hunter leader we want. We are given his location waypoint marker and go and fight him until we kill him.
The information gleaned from the hunter leader shows us that Dana is inside one of the special hives that we can't break into. Alex overhears the blackwatch saying they are going for bigger guns to get inside the hive. Alex suddenly becomes very interested in what the blackwatch have in their armoury.

Mission 17making the futureWe have to protect the military supertank while it destroys three hives. It is knocked out by a tentacle at the last and we have too hijack it and finish the job. We then have to drive it to the main hive and blow a hole in it. The mission ends there. At each of the preceeding hives we had to take out hunters by the bucketload to give it time to get a clear shot.A cut scene shows us entering the hive and meeting Greene, she is cryptic as usual. She attacks Alex and he jabs her in the neck with the syringe of deus ex machina. Strangely enough she mutates out a huge boss beastie. Of course we have to fight it.Oh this is a supreme hunter.After defeating the supreme hunter, which is tough but not nearly as hard as some boss battles we see a cut scene. Dana is found in the hive, Alex leaves with her. We see a hand form from a pile of ooze. Ragland is left to treat the comatose Dana while alex goes off to do something related to a map that Ragland shows him.

Wow another 4 hours playtime, end of second days play now 12 hours total.
Mission 18We have to go to a payphone to start this mission, without prompting as to why we would go to a random payphone and pick up. Anyway the unknown chatty figure that Alex is talking to in the future tells us more backstory. Blacklight is the name of the virus that the military tested in Idaho, and Greene was the result. Shadow guy tells Alex that he is no longer or possibly never was human and he is a product of Blacklight.Shadow guy warns us that the military intend to deploy a weapon against us by air, which we really should try to stop if we want to live past the day.We are told to go to a rooftop and look for a parked helicopter.Where we steal it.We now have to blend in with the military and do some jobs for them until called back to base, where we actually want to go.we have to dfly to location and pick up some soldiers. Take them to a hive, blow it up, pick off the hunters from the air and then drop the soldiers.Then we have to go off and rescue some other soldiers.A hydra (the ground tentacles errupt as we are trying to pick up the soldiers, we have to kill the hydra. Then pick up the soldiers.We have to then take them back to base. As a pilot we are told to go to a special briefing. at the briefing we are told of a toxin that only harms the blacklight virus. It is harmless to humans. It is being pumped into the room as an example, which is bad for Alex, with his cover blown we are trapped in a room with lots of soldiers.Killing all the soldiers deploys a supersoldier to fight.Then a whole load of them plus soldiers. Killing all the enemies lets you out of the building where you have to evade the military to finish the mission.

Mission 19We have to prevent the bloodtox being dispersed.There are bloodtox blowers on rooftops, we have to destroy them.There are around 9 blowers, all heavily guarded. Destroy them the lose the military to complete the mission.
I buy body surf, cannonball, groundspike graveyard devastator, groundshatter drop and sprinting throw.
Just watched an a.i. helicopter grind into a building for thirty seconds without blowing up, moving slowly along the side until it got past as if it didn't know the building was there.
Mission 20Shadow guy want us to help the military deploy a bloodtox pumper in times square, in the hope of flushing out Greene.We have to go to a base, asborb the commander, and then assist the military take a convoy of tanks and the pumper truck to times square. Hydra tentacles run interference.
Mission 21Disguised as the commander in times square we start the pump truck. This obviously is pissing Green off majorly. The ground shakes and hunters errupt from underneath. We have to defend the truck from attack.waves of hunters, leader hunters and hydra tentacles make life hell for about twenty minutes. Then if you survive all that the mission ends.
I buy critical max boost max, stealth consume boost, patsy, charged throw and long range throw.
Mission 22Green arrives and she is encased in a huge mutant tentacle beast. It fires rubble, green orbs and a huge shockwave at you.Killing it enough makes it drop to the ground and you can beat on Greene herself to take down it's health.
End of third days play 3 hours. 15 hours total time.
Fourth day
You have to beat her down around four times before you can get her health down. I found that the most effective way to take her down was to get in a tank and drive real close and shoot at the spinal column like part of the beast.When you finally wear her health down you absorb Greene and take her memories. Which are garbled, but seem to suggest she was a baby in her mothers womb when she was infected which is why she somehow developed antibodies to the virus.
We see the general panicing about the situation which is escalating out of control, almost 80 percent of the island is infected. He pulls back to the aircraft carrier. Cross is tasked with finding someone I could not make out the name of. Have to say the story is very muddled.
I buy air groundspike graveyard devastator and air combo.
End of fourth days play another two hours. 17 hours in total now.
Fifth days playI muck around a little and take a helicopter to some hives, as they seem to be taking over the whole map. It does little good by the time you have done three another pops up. Seems you can't clear them all away.I get enough points to buy musclemass throw and air critical pain devastator.

mission 23The shadow guy on the phone is so heavily muffled I can't understand what he tells me. We have to go and destroy the bloodtox production facility. I think he wants us to let ourselves get captured.we have to enter a heavily defended military base and destroy about ten little buildings to disable the factory.As we finish the mission we see a cut scene. Alex allows himself to be captured.This then somehow and unbelievably leads to him confronting McMullen. McMullen tells Alex that he released the virus deliberately after pressure from the military led him to do so. Alex was shot releasing the virus. What Alex is now is an combination of Alex's corspe and virus reanimation.McMullen says he will tell him what happened in Idaho but then blows his own brains out first.This is a little confusing, and not in a good way.
Mission 24Shadow guy turns out to be Cross, who I always thought it to be anyway, so no big surprise.Cross tells us the the general is itching to nuke the island. He wants us to prvent Taggart from escaping the island by helicopter.This is basically a helicopter mission as it's far to hard to catch the helicopters from the ground. You have to hijack a copter and destroy three groups of increasing amounts of helicopters which are making a run for it. Who is in them and why they are making a run for it I don't know.We get a monologue from Alex. Seems that the original virus was meant to target certain ethnicities and leave white americans untouched and unharmed. The virus was tested in Idaho. The results were disasterous. The population went mad and the general had to nuke the town. Greene was the only person untouched by the virus. She mutated the virus into something much worse. She was also pregnant at the time. Gentek was the institution set up to research what Greene became. There were too many leaks and the general decided to kill all staff and close the project. Alex Mercer facing death release the virus. He was killed. The virus seems to use human dna as a start of template and used his. He is the virus. Mercer's dna is it's soul. Green was released and took over control of the virus. Now Alex has to learn to control it as she did. He also wants to know what became of Greene's child and the small matter of a general who now wants to nuke everything to glass.

Mission 25We are told that taggart will run on foot now, we are to find him and consume him.We have to go to a base where Taggart is and blow it up to get him to flee in a tank.then chase the tank.The tank pauses in a circle of four or five tanks three times and tries to kill us, destroying the escort tanks makes Taggart's tank move on. Once that is done the tank flees for the bridge. We can then get close enough to get to it and get into it without harrassment. This ends the mission.
Cut scene shows Cross and Taggart talking to the general. Cross tells the general that Taggart fucked up and the general shoots him. Alex then shows his hand and absorbs the general. Once that is done we find out that Cross is the child of Greene, he is like Alex controlling node of the virus and seems to have powers like Alex, only he has kept them hidden. He mutates into a large monster and we have a boss fight.He runs around using groundspike and devastators, also the hammerfist type attacks you have. You stun him at times and grab him and punch hell out of him.There are soldiers and helicopters also trying to kill you both. Though they do concentrate on Cross.Cut scene shows Alex taking the bomb out into the ocean in a helicopter and dropping it in the sea.We see a bird eat a bit of blown up Alex then morph into gore which looks for more gore and eventually turns into Alex.Credits roll.
